Hi I'm Josh Farley

Hi I'm Josh! I have a deep passion for exploring and discovering new things, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in December in Omaha, Nebraska. When I was two, we moved to Mildenhall, England because my parents were in the Air-Force. Six years later we moved again to Okinawa Japan, and after three years there we finally came here to good 'Ol Abilene Texas! I am 19 years old and I love doing anything outdoors: sports, running, swimming, hiking, and especially riding my dirt-bike. I plan to go to school and get a good education to provide for a family someday. I really like learning and one of my favorite subjects is psychology so far!

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the Catholic Church, I never really had much care as to how things worked or what my purpose on this Earth is. Later on after my parents divorced, we stopped going to church all together, and I believe that I lost my way somewhere along that line trying to figure out who I really was inside and who I want to be. I made a lot of mistakes in high school. I would get good grades to impress my parents, but while I was out with friends I would make regrettable decisions and not really care of what the outcome of my actions were. I got into a lot of trouble repeatedly, when finally I knew that enough was enough. It was time for me to change. I looked into going into the armed services my Senior year as a way of getting out into the world to help others, but because of a few legal complications, it was taking a really long time for me to get in. During this time I met a girl, who was someone who I knew that could show me how to be a better person in general. Her and her family are all members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. One day after having dinner with her and her family, some missionaries from the church came over to talk to me about their faith. I listened intently and it all seemed to make perfect sense to me as if I had already known the things that were being taught. I went home one night after meeting with them, and had a feeling that it was really important that I have to know for myself if what had been said is the truth. As I prepared to go to bed, I knelled down and asked God with all my heart that if I would read some of the Book of Mormon that night, that he would provide me with a way to know if it was true. As I opened the book, a wave of emotion came crashing down over me with a pure, cleansing fire that burned inside me with an intensity that I've never felt before. I knew in that very moment that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that through faith and obedience, my life will be richly blessed.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints currently for a little less than a year. I love going to church every Sunday and learning as much as I can about God's plan for us and how I can make him happier and proud of me. I am currently serving as a branch missionary, and love going out with the full time missionaries to help others receive a knowledge of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ just as they have helped me. I am preparing to serve a full time two year mission for the Church in Lima Peru this year, and am working hard to prepare myself for this task. It gives me so much joy knowing that this Church is truly built upon the foundation of Jesus Christ, and I feel it is important for me to help others find the love and blessings that the fullness of the Gospel provides.
