Hi I'm Shelby

I was born and raised in Missouri. I love my family and friends! I'm currently serving a mission in Jacksonville FL. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Ever since I was a little kid I was big into sports. I played soccer, basketball, softball, and volleyball. In high school I cut it down to 2 sports, basketball and volleyball. Now I am in college and don't play any sports but I still enjoy being outside and being active. I am not parent yet but I do have a big family. I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters. There is never a dull moment when hanging out with my family. I also love to be crafty, scrapbooking is one thing that I love to do! I am also a Nanny! I love my job because I get to act like a kid again.

Why I am a Mormon

I basically grew up Mormon, ever since I was little I remember going to primary and loving it! Me and my family were active all the way up till I was a young teenager and then it was just me and mom. And then slowly it was none of us, and that was when I was ending my sophomore year in high school. Things got hard for me and I just felt like church wasn't going to fix that for me but oh was I wrong. My friends in church never gave up on me and I will never thank them enough for that. I slowly started coming back and as I did that the happiness in my life started to increase. I had friends that truly cared and I could see how my Heavenly Father was blessing me. I started with the youth activities on Tuesdays and then worked my way up to going to church every Sunday. Now I have been going to church for a solid couple years and I have callings that I love. My Heavenly Father never gave up on me like I did him. He was always there guiding and protecting me. It is still hard because my other family members are not active anymore, but because of the gospel I know that families are forever. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because of the happiness it brings to me and the promises that are made to me if I follow the commandments and live worthy of living with my Heavenly Father again.

How I live my faith

In high school I was in key club and National Honor Society, which they have to do with community service. I have done things like go into a 1st grade classroom and help teach to going to a local Hillcrest organization to help out however they needed. In church while I was still a youth I was president over the 16-18 years old. With that I had to plan different activities and lead in many ways over all the youth. I am currently in primary where the kids go while the adults have classes. I teach the 3 year olds! They are the most adorable little kids ever and I love to teach them. I am also assistant camp director for my ward, so I am helping plan a girls camp for the young women in my ward. I love it!!
