Hi I'm Matthew

I grew up in Corona, California. I am studying mechanical engineering the University of Utah.

About Me

I am currently studying mechanical engineering at the University of Utah. I love physics, electronics, and robots. I love nerdy stuff In general, and for the last 5 years have been making chain maille and collecting and working with minerals and gems (lapidary) and was a member of the Searcher's Gem and Mineral Club. I've run a small business based off of those hobbies since I was a freshman in high school. In my free time I like to play video games, read, and make cool things or of metal and stone. I frequently play Pathfinder, a table top role playing game similar to Dungeons and Dragons with my friends.

Why I am a Mormon

While I grew up in His church, I was not always a concert of His church. I first read the Book of Mormon all the way through when I was a Junior in high school, which gave me a firm testimony of its divinity, purpose, and power, but I still wasn't a concert if His church. I had a knowledge and understanding, but that was all. My true and real conversion first began, I believe, when I started college. My first semester wasn't easy, but I made it through without to much trouble. After that semester, however, I gradually stopped going to church, reading my scriptures, and in general living the life that I should be living. I no longer had my faithful parents always looking over me and I let myself fall into darker places. At the same time I wasn't living the life I should, I began to have growing physical and emotional problems. After a time of dealing with this, a friend got me back to church, and it was there that I realized why I was having these problems. That it was because I had stopped feeding my spiritual side and have left it to the dark. I worked with my church leaders, came to church once more, read my scriptures, and in general returned to the life I should be leading. After that, I came to have a firm conviction of the truthfulness of this church, that it is Jesus Christ's restored church on the earth today, that Joseph was a prophet of God that was ordained to restore His church, and that through His restored church, anyone can come to have a full knowledge of the correct and true principles of gospel, whereby we can partake of eternal life and happiness.

How I live my faith

I strive to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and his example that I find in the scriptures, and live it every day. I attend church on Sundays to help me come closer to him, and read my scriptures often. I try my best to always be an example of a disciple of Jesus Christ wherever I am, rather than just at church.
