Hi I'm Courtney

I am a math lover, crime solving TV show watcher, an attender of book clubs and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom to three wonderfully, active kids. We like to play at parks, go to the library, have picnics and be tourists in our new home north of Seattle, Washington. When I am not playing with kids, I like to watch crime solving TV shows and read books that are based in the in regency-era. I used to teach math, full time, but now I like to tutor junior high and high school students, especially in geometry (I am okay being a math nerd). I miss living in Southern California, but I am excited for my families new adventure in the pacific northwest.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was truly a blessing. I was taught at a young age about modesty, abstaining from alcohol, drugs and other addictive substances. I was taught and know that families, can be together after this life and that loved ones who are not with us now, physically on this earth, are near us in spirit. I was taught and understand about the Power of the Priesthood and that the power that Christ had while he was on the Earth has been restored in our day. I know that God our Father still can communicate with us individually and that he has given us a latter-day Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, to lead, guide and instruct us. I am grateful to have been taught these things in my youth, but also to have been given experiences that have allowed me to understand and develop my own testimony of these things. I have read the Book of Mormon and KNOW it to be true because I have received my own personal revelation. I am a Mormon because this Church has been established in the same way as Christ organized his Church, with Prophets, Apostles, etc., it just makes sense. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy to know where I have come from and where I can go. I am a Mormon so that I can be together with my grandparents who have passed on from this Earth and so that my family can eternally be together. I am a Mormon because I feel the love of my Savior daily as I kneel and pray. I would encourage you to feel the love of your Savior and pray.

How I live my faith

Something I love about living the Gospel is the connection that I have with people. No matter where you go, if you are traveling or moving to a new place, you can find a meetinghouse, attend with a local congregation and feel like you are part of a family. The materials that are taught in the United States, are the same in South America, Europe, and the World. Lessons that are being taught on one particular day in Germany are the same lessons that are being taught in Mexico. I have had the opportunity to teach Sunday School Lessons and know that the material that is being written is truly inspired to help every member understand the Gospel Works as well as teachings from our Latter-day Prophets. Being able to study the Old and New Testament along side the Book of Mormon, creates connections that reading each book alone may make. I am grateful to be able to now only study the standard works, but to be able to teach them to other members of the congregation. I did not go to school to study scripture, I actually studied mathematics, but I am becoming more knowledgeable every time I prepare to teach a lesson and study the gospel. I am grateful that I am always a student of the Gospel, and that although I am not perfect, I am trying my best, I continue to learn daily.
