Hi I'm Aubrey

I play frisbee, I quilt, I love to play the piano and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a typical college student, living off of easy mac and quesadillas. I have a job and am working hard to save for school and a mission. I love to play the piano and sing. I could sit down and play for hours if I had the time. I will play any kind of sport (except soccer because I'm absolutely terrible at it), I was on my high school's frisbee team. I am very competitive and have no mercy when it comes to sports. I also quilt in my free time. My favorite thing to do is lay out in the sun and relax by the pool. I spend everyday of my summer in my pool.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS church. I grew off of my parents faith for a time, just going to church because that's what I was taught to do. I began to gain my own testimony, that is I started to discover the truth of this church for myself after I read the Book of Mormon when I was 14. I have prayed to know if this church is true and if the Book of Mormon is true. I was unsure for a time because i wasn't getting a huge sign as my answer. I have heard of many amazing conversion stories where they have some huge spiritual experience and suddenly knew that this church is true. I wanted that, I prayed to know the truth for myself but I was not listening to the answer that I was receiving because I wanted a sign, I wanted something big, some miracle to let me know with a surety that this church was true. But that's not how it always happens. I received my confirmation through a simple feeling of peace. Several times I had prayed to know if the church was true and each time I received the same peaceful, comforting feeling. One night as I prayed I told Heavenly Father that I needed a huge confirmation that it was true and the thought came to my mind (no doubt brought by the spirit), "you know this church is true, so why do you keep asking for a sign?" This witnessed to me that confirmation can come through simple feelings. This gospel is my joy, it has given me a purpose in life. The reason I am always so happy is because I am a part of this church. I know that it is true. I know because of the peace and happiness it has brought me. I know because of how right it feels when I read the Book of Mormon and when I go to the temple. I have read the Book of Mormon several times and have followed Moroni's promise at the end to ask if it is true and it has been made manifest to me that it is true through the comforting, peaceful feeling of the holy spirit.

How I live my faith

I love participating in ward activities. We've done several service projects including cleaning up parks, visiting the elderly and making quilts for the homeless. I also have done a lot of family history work with my ward. I served as pianist in my ward for a time. It was a very enjoyable calling as I got to use my talents to bless other peoples lives and serve them. I was able to help bring the spirit in the room as people came and sat down in church by playing the prelude music.
