Hi I'm Emily

I'm a master accountant, missionary, lover of all things outdoors - and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from the BEAUTIFUL Pacific Northwest and I LOVE it!! I grew up playing on the lake and skiing in the mountains. I just love being outside. For me, it is easiest to connect with Heavenly Father when I'm out among His wonderful creations. Seriously, this earth is incredible. I also love artsy things like drawing, dancing, pottery, and music. I play the violin. I quit halfway through high school and didn't really play in college, but now that I've graduated I'm trying to pick it back up again. I finally understand why my mom kept trying to get me to practice all the time - it's really fun and sounds so beautiful with a little practice!! Speaking of graduating, I got my Bachelors and Masters degrees in accounting, but I really love teaching. I'd love to teach financial planning in high school or college someday. In the meantime, I'm serving a mission in Argentina! I spend every day serving people and teaching them about Jesus Christ and His Gospel. It's the BEST!!!!

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't raised in a "traditional" Mormon home. My dad was a member; my mom was not. As a kid I often faked being sick so I didn't have to go to church. As a teenager I started going because I wanted to. I felt there was something good there and I believed what was taught, but I still didn't really know for myself. I still depended heavily on the testimony of others. It wasn't until about halfway through college that I finally understood what this Gospel is all about - the WHY of the Gospel. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is THE pathway to becoming like the Savior. Heavenly Father and the Savior love us SO MUCH and they want us to become just as they are so that we can live with them again and have ALL that they have. That is why we are here - to learn how to be like them. The complete pathway is found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, restored to the earth by the Prophet Joseph Smith. It is the same church that Christ himself established when He walked the earth. The Book of Mormon, which Joseph Smith translated with the help of God, testifies again that Jesus is the Christ, and with the Bible gives us the complete pathway. Prophets called of God lead the church today, just as they did in ancient times. I choose to be a member of Christ's church and continue living His Gospel, because I want to live with Him and my Heavenly Father again and receive all of the blessings they have in store for me, and because I love Them and absolutely trust Them. My Savior has never let me down. Even when times are hard, He is ALWAYS there to lift me up.

How I live my faith

I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, because I'm part of a worldwide community of people seeking to better EVERYONE'S lives, not just the lives of our members. We are given so many opportunities to serve in our wards and communities, to strengthen one another, and to spread happiness and joy. Currently, I am a leader over the Family Home Evening activities in my young single-adult ward. Typically on Monday nights, members of the church gather with their families for Family Home Evening, where they share a spiritual message and have some sort of activity as a family, whether that's playing games, making a craft, or going out for ice cream. Members of young single-adult wards usually live away from their families, so we gather together in groups for a spiritual message and activity. It's a great way to interact with members of the ward, outside of church, and build stronger friendships. I have also been called to serve as a missionary in the beautiful country of ARGENTINA! I will go to the Missionary Training Center in September and from there to Argentina. In total, I will serve for 18 months and have the opportunity of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and God's love with both members and nonmembers in the areas I am assigned. I am SO excited to give everything that I am to serve those people!
