Hi I'm Sister Daphne Smith

I grew up in a small town Utah. I am now serving in the Alaska Anchorage Mission. My current area is North Pole. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I play tennis, read, swim, and spend time with my family. I went to a semester of college in the fall last year (2013). In high school I was very involved with the special education department at my school. My mom still works there so sometimes I help out and do activities with them. The times I was hanging out and helping in those classrooms and after school were probably the best times of my high school career. I am now serving a mission in Alaska. I have been here for about 5 months. It is one of the most amazing experiences I have had in my entire life. It is also the hardest thing I have ever done. But it is the most rewarding. Seeing the light in others is amazing. Being able to take a step back and see everyone as a child of God is really hard but opens up so many doors. I am enjoying the time I have here.

Why I am a Mormon

I started out being a Mormon because that's the faith of my parents. But I continue to go to church because I know this is the true church. There is nothing in my life that has ever made as much sense as the lds church has. I know with all my heart it is the true church. There have been times in my life when I have doubted or stopped going to church, and I can tell you that those were the hardest times I have ever had. I have never felt as alone as I did when I stopped going to church. I know that my savior lives and that he loves me. I know that my heavenly father loves me. And I can testify that they love you as well. They know when you're struggling. They will always be there for you if you just ask. I'd like to share an experience I had once, I was in High School and I had been struggling with friends. This particular day I felt like I didn't have anybody besides my family (although the family is the most important unit of friendship you can ever have, to a teenage girl its not everything). I physically could feel how empty and alone I felt. And so I prayed I asked for the atonement to come and take away my sorrows for a little while, at least. Then as I finished my prayer I felt an overwhelming sense of peace. I know that it was my Savior giving me that small amount of comfort. I want you to know that if you but ask, and if it be his will, he will come and give you comfort. This gospel is the center of everything I am and everything I stand for. Without it I would be lost. I know it, I live it, I love it!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church and helping out where help is needed. I have been called to serve a mission in Alaska. Right now I have been preparing to serve by reading books about the gospel and trying to build my testimony.
