Hi I'm Skyler

I grew up in California. Son of a BYU and Fresno State Basketball coach. Married a Mountain View cheerleader. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Fresno, California. Moved to Provo, Utah in between my Sophomore and Junior year of high school. Graduated from Timpview High School. Dad was the BYU and Fresno State basketball coach. Went on a mission to New Zealand, came home 6 months later for back surgery and then finished my mission in St. Louis, Missouri. Married the most beautiful girl in Orem/Provo in 2002. I have 4 children, 3 girls and 1 boy. I graduated from BYU in '05 and have since lived in Fresno, Ca working for my uncle as a health benefits producer. I love to play basketball, tennis and golf.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the fact that I can follow a prophet of God who is the mouthpiece for our Savior Jesus Christ. I feel blessed to be able to access additional scripture that allows me to understand the Gospel is a second witness of our Savior. I'm a Mormon because it makes me better as a person, as a father and as a husband. I grew up in the Gospel, so yes, I haven't had to search out for a religion that I feel is where the Lord would want me to go, but during my journey in life, I have had to question, pray and confirm that the life I was living and the teachings I am following truly come from God. I'm a Mormon, because I have overwhelmingly felt through the Spirit of God, that I'm in the right place, I'm following a prophet of God and that I truly belong to the restored church of Jesus Christ..

How I live my faith

I currently teach the 12 and 13 year olds in the Dry Creek ward. I love teaching that age because of how critical of an age that can be as you are exposed to so much of the world. My wife and I attend the temple once a month in Fresno which is a great strength to our faith and to our relationship. with 4 kids under the age of 9, scripture study, prayer, family home evening, church attendance, can be frustrating, overwhelming, joyful and humorous all at the same time. I love our prophet, I love the reading my scriptures as it keeps me grounded. Reminding me of who I am and why I should live the way I do.
