Hi I'm Vanessa

My name is Vanessa and I grew up in Iowa. I am a missionary in Boise, Idaho, a kindergarten teacher and I am a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in a tiny town in Iowa and am the youngest of four girls. I went to BYU-Idaho and got a degree in Elementary Education. For the past 2 years I have been teaching Kindergarten in Utah. I love to watch sports, read and spend time with my family. I am currently serving a LDS mission in the Idaho Boise Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church and was taught the standards of the Gospel all my life. There came a point when I had to gain a testimony that the Church was true for myself. This happened after I graduated from BYU-Idaho. I no longer had my parent's testimony to keep me going and I no longer had the 'cushion' of BYU-Idaho to keep me going to church and living the standards. After I graduated, there was a time I wasn't living in accordance with the Church and I could tell that something wasn't right in my life so I decided to search for a testimony of my own. I know without a doubt that this is the true Church here on the earth today. I know that Joseph Smith restored the Church in this dispensation and that we still have a living prophet here on the earth today. Heavenly Father knows each and every one of us so personally and loves us, no matter what. Jesus Christ was the ultimate sacrifice that allows us to be forgiven for not only our sins, but our weaknesses, struggles and shortcomings. I know that families can be together forever and that we can live with our Heavenly Father again. I have a sincere testimony of prayer. If we pray with a sincere heart and real intent, He hears us and answers our prayers. Sometimes, we need to have a little faith when it doesn't come according to our will or timetable. The Book of Mormon is true and I feel so lucky to live in a time when I have it as a guide. This is the true Church and I know, without a doubt, that the reading the Book of Mormon and praying with a sincere heart can allow the Spirit to reveal that testimony to any and everyone.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through my example. I have a lot of family and friends who are not members of the church. I try and share my testimony with them and teach them about the Gospel. I am currently serving as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Boise, Idaho.
