Hi I'm Rachel

I'm an Electrical Engineer, a Survivor, a Twin, a Wife and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest twin by two minutes and we are inseparable by heart. I attend BYU-Idaho, the land of the frozen compared to Arizona, here I call it my second home. I used to major in theater but didn't want to go back to high school, don't get me wrong I love theater, the technical aspect of course. Now I am pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree with internships under my belt from Intel, and the LDS Church. With the help of Intel I was able to create a Maker's Space for women at BYU-Idaho, it really engages the creative side while still applying a learning environment. I'm not your usual geek or nerd. I enjoy horseback riding, camping, fishing...anything with the outdoors. I'm a dog lover with an immense appetite for food (buffets are great) and I like watching Disney movies with friends and family. I'm married to my best friend Lance Whetten in August of 2016. I am a survivor because when I was born I was diagnosed with a Diaphragmatic Hernia. In simpler terms all my organs passed through a hole in my diaphragm into my left lung. I receive many blessings but was not getting better after the surgery's; there was this tube in my left lung, draining the excess liquids; one day I pulled that tube out and they couldn't get it back in. However, 24 yrs later I am alive and healthy with no impairments. I am ever so grateful to those who helped and to my Heavenly Father. He truly needed me here for a purpose. Of what I do not know, but I have faith in Him that He will guide me.

Why I am a Mormon

"I'm a Mormon because I believe in Jesus Christ, not because I can't see Him, but by Him I can see everything else." - C.S. Lewis This quote speaks the very bones in my body! I know through him I can understand and comprehend things that don't make sense. I know its true, I know that Joseph Smith saw God, the Father, and His son Jesus Christ. I know the living prophet today is guided by that same spirit that guides me and helps me through out my day. It an't easy but if this was easy no one would do it, it wouldn't be as rewarding as it is now. I'm not good at describing things that pertain to the gospel but i can tell my testimony and that is its true! Every bit of it! Reason I am a Mormon is because I want to be a Mormon, I want that feel good feeling and that knowledge of everything that its going to be alright.

How I live my faith

I am a Daughter God. I want to be a follower of Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. By knowing who I am and what I want to become it makes it easy to answer 'How I live my Faith', the answer is that it is part of my life, like breathing air and eating food, I can't just ignore it or else I’ll die. I live my faith by doing the small things such as reading the scriptures, saying my prayers, attending church, reading conference talks, keeping the commandments, and many other tiny things. All this that I do is because I want to feel the spirit, it makes me feel good and being a Mormon, a member of this church, fulfills that and more.
