Hi I'm Laurie

I'm a BYU student. I love climbing trees and playing with little kids. And I'm a happy Mormon!

About Me

I live in the house that my grandpa grew up in, and family has always been so important to me. I'm always playing with my little siblings, and we love to have dance parties. I love music, and I have had some of my favorite experiences singing in choirs and playing the piano. I'm an avid reader, and love pretty much any literature you throw at me. When I was little, my parents would ground me from reading for a day or two if they really wanted to make a point. :) All of my life I dreamed of going to BYU, studying to become an elementary school teacher, and going on a mission. I'm now living all of those dreams as I am a Brigham Young student and I leave in a couple weeks to go to Chile on a mission. Although I'm not very good at it, I love speaking Spanish to anyone who will take the time to have a conversation with me, and I'm so excited to get better at it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy! Finding happiness in my life is my top goal, and I know that every time I follow the commandments and do what the Lord would have me do I am so much happier. I am happy when I can go to the temple, I am happy when I am free from addictions, I am happy when I read the Book of Mormon and other scriptures, I am happy when I feel the influence and peace from the Lords, Spirit, and I am especially happy when I spend quality time with my family and recognize that if I follow God's will we can all live together FOREVER. How amazing is that?? My mom is one of 7 kids, and my dad is one of 8, so I have so many cousins and aunts and uncles and grandparents that I love, some of whom have already passed away, and I just can't imagine an eternity being happy without them. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is God's true Church because I have prayed so many times about it. I feel so much peace and joy when I live it's teachings, and I know that that is what I will be doing for the rest of my life. If you have questions about the Mormon Church, talk to a Mormon that you know, or pray and read from the Book of Mormon yourself. Searching out people's opinions online might help, but it can help you so much more if you look at the fruits yourself. My membership in Christ's Church has brought me more happiness than anything else in my life, and continuously helps me grow closer to God and feel peace.

How I live my faith

My ward is like a big family to me. Through the hundreds of church activities and meetings I've been to, I've gotten to know so many amazing people that are examples to me, and they strengthen my faith. Right now I'm blessed to live my faith by serving as the pianist for the primary (kids ages 3-12), and it is a dream come true. I love it so much. I am living what I believe right now by preparing to serve a mission. My whole life right now is focused on preparing for that so that I can be a better teacher. I know that the gospel of Christ is true, and I really want to give people the same joy that I have had in my life. It will be hard to leave my family and close friends, but I am so excited for this chance to strengthen mine and other's conversions to Christ, and to give my time to God.
