Hi I'm Michael D. Greener

Born in the Seattle area, I was adopted by an LDS couple. I have adopted children of my own from the US and China. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to travel and have visited 5 of 7 continents so far. While traveling, I always seem to be drawn to local cuisine and love to explore the tastes and smells of local markets wherever I may be. When I get home, I love to try and replicate recipes that I loved and share them with my wife and three children.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was adopted in to a family that raised me as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, there came a time when I had to make the choice of remaining an active member on my own. I served a two year mission for the church in Argentina and it was there that I truly felt the Holy Ghost confirm for me that the gospel I was teaching was true. Even as I have grown in knowledge and experience over the past 25+ years since returning home, my faith has not faltered despite my trials. In fact, I believe that our trials give us opportunities to re-evaluate and re-confirm our faith each time they are presented to us. In that way, we can view our trials from another perspective and see that they can actually be blessings.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving in the bishopric of our ward (congregation) here in Vancouver Washington. Even though that makes for early (and long) Sundays as I attend to both administrative and spiritual needs of those we serve, I take comfort in knowing that I can make a difference in an individual's or family's lives. In addition, my current position allows me to work with some remarkable young men and women in our church. I am sure they don't realize how much of an example they are to me and how their testimonies and service help me to keep up with the busy demands on my time.
