Hi I'm Rachel

I'm the first woman to serve a mission in my family. My story is just beginning. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student who is not completely positive of what she wants to study. My family is split 50/50 with members and non-members. I am the youngest of three children. I love to serve others. My favorite things to do is play games with my family, read, go to movies,do crafts, and spend time in nature. I love to travel and have been able to travel to many places in the Caribbean and in the U.S.. I love to learn and I am always looking for new things to learn about and new people to teach me.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up Mormon. When I was 8 years old I was baptized a member and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. It was not until I was about 13 years old that I started to know for myself that this church is true and the teaching that are taught in it are true. At age 13 I read the Book of Mormon for the first time. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of god and that it was translated correctly. I also lost my grandpa at that age and I learn for myself that Families are forever and that they are central to gods plan. I also learn when I was 13 that building a testimony and learning about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and all the teachings that the prophets have given us takes a lifetime. I also know that everyone on this earth are God's children and that he love us all and that he wants us to choose him for ourselves. I know that God is always there for me. I know that God has called prophets on this earth during this modern time and I know that Thomas S Monson is the prophet today and that he is called of god. I know that Jesus Christ suffered for all of god's children and that he died not just for the sins of the world but for every thing we go through in our life so that he can help us and be the only person who truly knows and understand what we are going through. I choose to be a Mormon because of all the happiness, strength, and comfort it gives me.

How I live my faith

I have been volunteering at elementary schools for years to help teachers with whatever they need like reading with kids or helping during the summer to put the room together. I have also participated in an event every Holiday season where the community donates food, clothes, hygiene needs, school supplies, household items, baby items, blankets, books/toys, and new presents that are given to those that are struggling and can't supply these items for them selves. I was able to serve all the youth at my high school through the church education program called seminary. I would listen to what they had to say, I would invite them to the activities we would have, and I would be their friend.
