Hi I'm Emily Hartvigsen

I love sunshine and running. I have two active and wonderful children. I'm a mom, a wife and a Mormon.

About Me

I studied organizational communications at BYU-Idaho. I love business books like Good to Great and Leadership and Self-deception. I enjoy running and being outside. I am addicted to sunshine. I hope to get a masters in education someday. I have a strong desire to learn how to effectively teach. I have 2 kids that keep me busy and happy. They are entertaining and exhausting. I love gardening and cooking with fresh herbs. I like to try new foods and activities and l love meeting new people.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel strength as I read the book of Mormon. It speaks clearly to my heart and helps regulate all emotions that life can conjure up. I feel connected tot he Savior and I better understand His love for us as His children. When I attend church I feel bolstered by other members and their examples of sacrifice and dedication. They temple is a pillar of my faith. I am so thankful to have a special place on earth where I can escape the chaos of the world and enter in to a spiritual sanctuary. I feel a peace there that permeates my week and helps me refocus. It was there, in a sacred temple, that I was married. I chose to be married in a temple because I believe there is power exercised there that can literally seal a family for life after death. As I look at my children, I am so thankful for that security. I love the Savior and the blessings that are in my life.

How I live my faith

I work with they children in my community. At our local church we meet weekly for 2 hours together in Sundays. We learn songs and scripture stories about Jesus Christ. I love being around the kids, seeing their eagerness to participate, their simple and powerful faith and helping them understand who they are as children of a loving Heavenly Father. I also visit 3 women on a monthly basis who belong to our churches' women's organization. I feel strength from them in a variety of ways. We connect as we share simple experiences of faith, new recipes and goals. My most demanding and important involvement in my faith is as a mother. I work daily, though not perfectly, to teach my kids standards of morality, love, kindness and faith. Christ is my ultimate example and His teachings are the grounds for all my objectives. I am grateful, everyday for the written scriptures.
