Hi I'm Chanda

Current missionary. Potential opera singer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in nearly every region of the United States and also Japan so I can't really pinpoint one specific place I'm from. I am a college music student, studying vocal performance and I hope to go into opera after completing some more school. I love music and the joy it has brought to my life and I want very much to be able to share that joy with others through music.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up as a Mormon but I have still needed to find my own testimony of the Gospel. Through my struggles I have seen God's mercy and His helping hand in my life. I haven't always been able to recognize Him in my life, but as I have humbled myself I have been able to look back and see all the good He has done for me. I see the wonderful difference in my life when I am trying to live the principles of the Gospel versus when I forget my worth as a child of God and do not live as righteously. I know that God loves all of His children. He wants the best for all of us, anywhere, anytime. He has blessed us with commandments and guidelines to help us be happier. These commandments are something I have gained a strong testimony of because the long term blessings we receive for keeping them are so strong. If these commandments did not make sense to me then I would not try to live by them. As I have gained more life experience, I see that they really are the only way for true happiness. I have seen the joy that the Gospel has brought to others' lives as they have made changes in order to keep these commandments and, on the flip side, I have seen the suffering people have gone through as they have decided to stop living the commandments. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has taught me about how to find true and everlasting happiness more so than anything else in this world. As I have come to better know my Savior, Jesus Christ, I see His love for me and His guiding hand each day in my life. I know He wants me to be happy and through His Gospel I can do that and become the best person that I have the potential to be.

How I live my faith

I have been very blessed to have a church building to attend each week and to be able to participate in regular church activities. Seminary (daily church classes for the youth of the church) has also been a blessing for me, as it has helped me gain a better understanding of the Gospel. The church callings I have been given have had a huge and positive impact on my life. I really do believe they have helped shape me as an individual and have allowed me to develop my talents. I am currently serving as a pianist and also as a member of the Relief Society presidency in my local church meeting house. I have previously served as a chorister, an activity committee member, and as a member of several class presidencies.
