Hi I'm S. Harold Smith

I am a retired University Administrator and Professor. Dianne is my wife of 47 years. We have 10 children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah and moved to the Pacific Northwest when I was four. I have an older brother and sister. I attended school in the Willamette Valley in western Oregon. I attended Brigham Young University for one year and then served a two year mission in Texas. Arriving back to school, I met my wife Dianne after two months and we have been married for 47 years. We have 10 children,28 grandchildren and one great-grandson.My BS degree was completed at BYU and I then obtained a MS degree from the University of Washington and a PhD from the University of Utah. Over 40 years of my career were in Higher Education. Our family has lived in ten different states. I am also a licensed Master Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and have spent much of my working life with individuals having various disabilities and/or teaching others to successfully do so. I was greatly blessed to involve most of my in these experiences. Dianne and I retired in 2010 to serve a two year mission for the Church in the country of Jamaica. yes, it is a beautiful country with lovely people, but this mission was not a vacation. Our days were spent freely giving of our time and talents too a very humble people. We currently live in Idaho to close to family

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family and feel so blessed because of this. Just being in a family that is Mormon does not mean that I did not need to find of its truths on my own. I have a personal testimony of the truthfulness of the Church and Gospel as revealed to the Prophet Joseph. I now personally that The Book of Mormon is true and another witness of Jesus Christ.I have read it many times and glean new truths each time it is read. I know that the Keys of the Priesthood are upon the earth today, restored through Heavenly Messengers, and held by President Thomas S. Monson, the current Prophet. I also know that any person with a honest heart may know these truths through the pray of faith.

How I live my faith

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is my life, as is my family. Living the Gospel as revealed to modern day Prophets is the center focus of my daily living. My family and I read the scriptures regularly, have weekly family meetings, serve in our local congregation and be active in our community. I pray often and seek the guidance of the Spirit in all I do.This may be hard to understand but the Church is not a part of my life. It is my life.
