Hi I'm Rob

I was not born into the Church, but was converted after 17 years of marriage to a Mormon. I am now a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Germany when my Dad was in the US Air Force. My Dad was stationed around in Europe in my early life and I did not actually set foot in the United States until I was five years old. I joined the military myself while I was in college and spent 22+ years traveling the world in various capacities. I did not grow up in the Church, but I married a wonderful woman who did grow up in the Church. After 17 years of marriage, I finally decided that it was the right thing to do to join the Church. I am a scientist by training (Degree in Microbiology and Chemistry) and I had to be convinced by tangible evidence rather than the feelings of my heart. After I was convinced with evidence, the feelings of my heart followed. I am happy that I was able to baptize my oldest son, and will be happy to baptize my younger son as well. I was also able to stand in for my deceased father to be baptized for him. I baptized my deceased Mom as well and was able to confirm them as members of the Church. It was a very happy day for my family, and I believe that it was a happy day for my parents as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon as a result of careful investigation of sufficient evidence ("scientifically") and the feelings and prompting of the Holy Spirit followed as I began to understand what that meant and how to recognize it when it happens.

How I live my faith

I work hard to fulfill what I feel are my duties to my Heavenly Father, my Church, my Ward/neighborhood, and my family and friends. I also feel like I have made a big contribution to helping my country and even made small changes in the betterment of the world through my service in the military. Service has been a way of life for me since learning these principals from my parents.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Rob
It is the duty of each of Heavenly Father's children (each and every one of us is a child of God) to help our Heavenly brothers and sisters. It is like helping and loving your earthly brothers and sisters - we all love our siblings and, though it is sometimes difficult, we would die to help them through their hardships. This is what Mormons believe - we need to do all that we can to help our Heavenly siblings. Show more Show less
