Hi I'm Lisa R Szymanski

I was born and raised in Utah, raised my kids in Utah, and now I live in the Chicago suburbs. And yes, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mom of two awesome, big boys. I went back to college and got my Bachelor's degree after my boys got big. I read a lot. I like to create. Music is my heart and teaching is my passion. I love learning. I have lots of goals for what I want to do when I grow up, like: traveling, learning new languages, and getting a flat top when my hair is white and driving a bright red convertible.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been raised as a Mormon, but my commitment to live it fully and determination to remain true to it's teachings has been a continuous process throughout my life. As I have faced some really tough challenges, I turned to the Savior for the peace He has promised us. Even through the tears I have shed, I have felt the Comforter near. I know He is watching out for me and that He loves me unconditionally. My prayers are heard. My burdens have not been removed, but they have been lightened as I pray, study His word through the Holy Scriptures, and ponder and contemplate the many blessing I've been given. As I recognize my shortcomings, I know I can repent and be forgiven through the Atoning Sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I know God is the same yesterday, today, and forever... He is my foundation that will never fail. Through personal revelation, and through the words of His prophets (from the scriptures and from those living today), I know that God is active in our daily lives and miracles have not ceased. I look forward to the day when I can live with Him again, (although I don't mind taking my time getting there). And I am so grateful for the blessings of the temple, that through covenants and ordinances I can live with my family forever. "I know my Father (in Heaven) lives and loves me, too. The Spirit whispers this to me and tells me it is true." (The Children's Songbook of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, song no. 5).

How I live my faith

I love serving those around me. Right now I'm the secretary for the children's organization, Primary. I've spent many years teaching and leading the young women at church. But most of my service has been in various music leadership roles. I have always lent my time and voice to the church choir, and sometimes I think Heavenly Choirs have helped us out! I try to be an example of faith and love in all that I do.
