Hi I'm Rob

I am a husband and a helper. I am a father and a friend. I am a brother and battling cancer. I am a son and a child of God.

About Me

I was born into a wonderful family with 3 sisters and 2 brothers. We all have a great relationship with each other. I am married to an incredible woman that I am so lucky to have in my life. We have 3 boys together and I also have 2 boys from a previous marriage. I use to work as a computer analyst until I was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Prostate Cancer. Now I am disabled from this terrible disease.

Why I am a Mormon

Some might think since I was born to parents that were already Mormons that is why I am a Mormon today. I can say that influenced me to give me a direction to follow but there are a couple of times that I struggled and needed to know for myself why I choose to be a Mormon. After high school I didn't quite know what I wanted to do and with some sincere prayer and studying I gained a testimony of this gospel. I then went out for 2 years of my life and preached and testified of Jesus Christ. But even as strong as I was I struggled again for 10 years and needed to go back to the foundation of the gospel and live the teachings that Jesus Christ set forth. I needed to be obedient and through this obedience I have received some great blessings. I have gained such a stronger testimony than I have ever had in my life. I know that Jesus Christ has paid the price for my sins and through his atonement I can be made clean by repenting of my sins and being cleansed through the atonement. I know The Book of Mormon is divine scripture that enriches my life and gives me the direction I need to be a better person. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God that restored this great gospel to the Earth and was able to translate The Book of Mormon through the power of God. I know we have a prophet of God on the Earth today that receives revelation from our Heavenly Father to lead this great work of salvation and eternal life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by reading and studying the scriptures. I teach my children to love the scriptures and we read them as a family. Prayer is so important in my life. Besides praying everyday myself I teach each one of my children to pray and to be specific for things and to be thankful for the things that we receive each day. I have come up with a Family Creed that we strive daily to follow to strengthen our beliefs and our character. I have come to realize since my diagnosis of cancer that there are really only 3 things that I need to focus on and then the entire picture comes into focus. 1. My relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. 2. My relationship with my family and friends. 3. How I treat others. This is really it! I feel if I truly follow these three things then everything else falls into place. If I follow these I am following the gospel principles that Jesus Christ has given to each of us to follow. I am loving others and I am treating others as Jesus would.
