Hi I'm Alisyn

I am a wife, mother of nine, and grandma of 42. I was a military wife for 30 years. I love exercising, reading & classical music.

About Me

I've been married to a wonderful husband for 48 years. We have three daughters and six sons. All have graduated from college and have served missions. We have 42 grandchildren and counting. I earned a B. A. with a major in Interpersonal communications and a minor in Business. I put myself through college. I stopped working full time outside the home after I was married and started a family. We bought an electric typewriter so I could type papers, theses and dissertations from home. I have worked as a secretary, accompanied vocal students and recitals, accompanied at a ballet studio, played for civil weddings during our time in the military, and was a church organist for most of my life. I have taught children, youth, and adult classes in church. I swim, cycle, lift weights and walk regularly. I served a mission in the Netherlands when I was 21 and since have served missions with my husband in Singapore, a missionary training center, Germany and the United Kingdom. My main interest is my family -- husband, children and grandchildren and the gospel of Jesus Christ. I was a military wife for 30 years and finally finished my college degree when I was pregnant with our fifth child at the same time my husband was on a remote assignment in Southeast Asia. I enjoy recording stories for my grandchildren and teaching them how to knit and crochet. I love photography, designing birthday cards, Skyping and Facetiming our children and grandchildren, sewing and cooking.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my parents were Mormon. I have remained a Mormon because I know that the teachings of our Church are true. Every doctrine, policy and procedure helps us to better understand and know Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father loves us. That is why He provided a plan of happiness. The purpose and goal of this life is to have joy and prepare ourselves to live with Him eternally. We do this by using our agency to choose righteous paths that will accomplish that goal. I know that God lives, that Jesus is our brother and Redeemer, that Joseph Smith is a prophet, that The Book of Mormon is true and the most correct book on earth, and that we have a living prophet on the earth today even President Thomas S. Monson.

How I live my faith

I love to serve others. Belonging to the largest women's organization in the world has given me the opportunity to serve others which has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. Practically every aspect of my homemaking skills has been learned from lessons taught in this organization. Visiting teaching is an assignment given in the women's organization to visit other women, and it is the vehicle through which one reaches the hearts of the women in the church. Working with the young single adults in England has also been a special privilege for me and my husband. They are the future leaders of the church and are valiant, responsible, courageous, self reliant, worthy, talented, morally clean, full of integrity and spiritually sound.
