Hi I'm Jade Garfield

I was born and raised in Utah. I moved to Potsdam, New York in January of 2012. I love basketball, singing, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

Hi! My name is Jade. I was born and raised in Northern Utah, but moved to Upstate New York when I was 15. After graduating high school, I went to BYU for 3 semesters before moving back home to prepare for a mission. I love basketball, singing, hiking, reading, and spending time with my friends and family. I love to watch movies and I'm almost constantly listening to music. I recently was called to serve in the California Bakersfield mission, and I can't wait to share the gospel with the people of California!

Why I am a Mormon

My family's membership in the church goes way back. I'm talking pioneer members. My parents were born in to the church, and so was I. I chose to be baptized at the age of 8. I chose to go to church every week. I chose to attend Young Women's and Seminary on Wednesday nights. However, once I moved to college, I truly chose to continue doing those things. I went to church every week, and I took institute classes at BYU. I relied on the gospel more than ever during my time at BYU because I needed it. Classes are stressful, you're away from your family, you're financially unstable. I was so grateful to have Heavenly Father right there when I needed him. I'm grateful for prayer, because that made me feel comfort in the hard times. Every good thing in my life has been a blessing from Heavenly Father. The gospel has made my life infinitely better than it would be without it, and because of that I've decided to serve a full-time mission. I'm so excited to spread the gospel to those who don't have it yet. I know that those who choose to listen will be blessed for it. I know this church is true, and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I live inside the boundaries of a branch, which means the membership number is too small for it to be a ward. There are about 60 or 70 active members, which means I have the opportunity to do a lot more than I did in Utah. I give talks fairly often and get to teach on occasion. I have truly been blessed to live in this small branch because it's helped me grow more spiritually than I would've been able to anywhere else.
