Hi I'm Tate Wright

Hello. My name is Tate Wright. I am an eternal child and don't want to grow up.

About Me

I am from California. I am not a surfer though. Instead I read a lot, write a lot, and go outside and dig my fingers into the dirt. I also love talking to trees. One of my professors at BYU once told me, "learn to talk to trees...it will soothe your soul." I took his advice. I like sitting at the trunk of some tree and talking to it, because eventually I find myself talking to God. I am not much of a people person, and I prefer to listen rather than to talk, which I think is one of the only gifts I have. No one knows how to listen nowadays--too many people like the sound of their own voice. I love the gospel. It is a system of change and service and outside-of-yourself-ness, which I really like. Some of my most poignant memories in my life have come from forgetting about myself and helping someone who needed comfort or an encouraging word or someone who will listen. I believe that Jesus Christ really did walk the earth and teach and serve. I believe that we are here to follow His footsteps, and we shouldn't be afraid if His footsteps lead us to Gethsemane. We all have to face trials and individual crosses, but it is for our learning and benefit. We aren't alone in the carrying of our cross. Jesus Christ is carrying it with us. In Him I find relief and peace.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church, but that doesn't mean I am brainwashed. I am old enough to make my own choices. I chose to serve a mission, to leave my family to come to Poland. I wouldn't have done that if IIII, myself, did not know that this church is true. I have read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover--in fact, I read it for the first time 3 years ago. Before that I didn't want anything to do with God and in a certain sense I did not believe He even existed. But He does live. This is His church. Many churches are good and do much good and have some truth, but they don't possess the fulness. To some this may be a bold claim, but to that I say, "Try the truth for yourself. Don't take my word for it."

How I live my faith

I attend church regularly and partake of the sacrament, promising to always remember my Savior and do everything in my power to live the life He wants me to. I study daily my scriptures in the Polish language. I am currently serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the small, heart-shaped country called Poland. I love being a representative of the Redeemer of the world. I love His teachings--they are sure and reliable and lead us to eternal life. I have no doubt of this. God is at the helm of this church.
