Hi I'm Spencer Thomas

I love hiking, camping, fishing, and anything else that involves being in the outdoors. I'm a LDS missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a home that was and still is in the Church. When I was younger I loved going out and playing with all my buddies during my free time. Or just sitting around the campfire with my family. My whole life I have not been ready for change. And many unexpected changes have happened in my life. I was called to serve a mission for the LDS church. I was assigned to labor in the Kenya Nairobi mission. Which covers the countries of Kenya and Tanzania. My time spent in Kenya and Tanzania is hard to explain because of how amazing it was. I loved being with the people of Africa and being able to share the light of the gospel to them. After about 7 months of being in 3 different cities I was out playing soccer with the locals and I rolled my ankle, breaking it and tearing a few ligaments. This event caused a lot of change in my life that brought me to the depths of humility. I later went home and recovered. Going home from a mission was not easy. After spending months in a two countries unknown to me, i was about to return to an unknown world...home. I spent about 4 months home in which I found a new job and decided to return on am mission. I am currently serving in South Carolina, where I am proud I made the decisions to return to service. This events in my life have brought me so much closer to the knowledge that God is really in charge.

Why I am a Mormon

What does it take to be a Mormon, well in the middle of Happy valley Utah, It takes a lot more than what people think. It takes a lot of courage to get through a tough test in school, or stand up in front of your friends to be someone you want to be. I'm a Mormon because the Lord has truly given me things that I wouldn't have had before, or anything anyone else has. I have a personal conversation with my God every night. I love that. That's one of many reasons why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

In one way that truly brought me in closer to God, was family history. The way that he touched me was through the spirit of revelation. I was not going down the right path until someone came up and asked me to start family history work. So I was already in a whole I thought so why not give it try. So I did, It changed my life. The spirit of God that came to me the day I started was powerful. It was like getting hit really hard by something, but it not hurting. It's like when your watching a scary movie and the creepy parts just give you chills, it was like that but with good chills. The power and happiness that came over me that day was powerful. I later got called to be the Youth Family History Consultant in the Stake, so being nervous about school and things like any other teenager has, I didn't want to do it, but I remember how that spirit touched me that day. So I just had to teach others about how to gain it themselves.

What is faith?

Spencer Thomas
What I believe Faith is is when you know something that is not really there. Do a little experiment. Put you hand in front of your face, now close you eyes. You know you had is there but you can't really see it. So when you have faith you are seeing things that are really there. Such has winning a soccer game, or singer good a concert. Or even nailing a great interview. You know that your are going to do great. Show more Show less
