Hi I'm Matthew Day

I've lived in Layton Utah my entire life. I'm preparing to serve a LDS mission in the Cusco Peru Mission.

About Me

I've lived here in Layton Utah for just over eighteen years now. My family owns a small farm on which my siblings and I all work. I love to do outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, skiing, any sport in the back yard, golfing and especially basketball. I received my mission call recently and have been assigned to labor in the Cusco Peru Mission. I report to the Lima Peru MTC on July 29th where I will be taught to teach the gospel in the spanish language.

Why I am a Mormon

There are countless reasons why I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The first and most important reason being that it provides me with joy and peace that I have not been able to find anywhere else. I know that the peace and joy I feel by living the standards of the gospel is the Holy Ghost witnessing to me that God loves me, and that what I am doing is in accordance to Christ's divine plan. Based on that knowledge, everything else easily falls into place and makes sense. Knowing that God loves his children the same as he did in the Old/New Testament times and that He is the same yesterday, today and forever, it only makes sense that he would provide the same revelation to us as he did then. I know that there is a living prophet on this Earth who was divinely appointed to give us modern revelation in the ways that we should be living, and to warn us of things to come. I also have a testimony of pray and the revelation that we personally can receive from doing so. I know that Christ called Joseph Smith to be a prophet. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and his son Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon. I know that the words in the Book of Mormon were written to compliment the Bible in testifying of Christ. I know and so dearly love my Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ and am so grateful for the atonement and the cleansing power it has had in my life. I know that Christ lives.

How I live my faith

Currently I am serving as a leader in my youth group and am a member of my high school seminary council. I strive to live my life in accordance to the principals and standards that are set forth by the gospel of Jesus Christ. I try my best to be kind to everyone around me, to love them as Christ would. Ultimately I live my faith by making a conscious effort to be a little better each day.
