Hi I'm Dan Stone

I grew up in Logan, Utah. I have always loved science and learning how things work. I am a Mormon scientist.

About Me

I have a PhD in chemistry and spent 15 years doing atmospheric chemistry research as an Air Force civilian. Then I spent another 15 years as an Air Force environmental scientist. I have worked with Scouting for many years. I enjoy fly fishing and working with computers. I have been married for 45 years to a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. We are the parents of six children and 29 grandchildren. I am a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons) and draw great comfort and strength from its teachings and beliefs.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an active Mormon family and was baptized into the Church at age 8. As I grew up, I came to know for myself the teachings of the Savior and how they were restored in our time through the prophet Joseph Smith. I read and pondered on the Book of Mormon and as I prayed and studied it, I gained a testimony of its truthfulness. Having this tangible evidence of the Lord's word for our day (the Book of Mormon is Another Testament of Jesus Christ), I also received an assurance that Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet. I know that God has a plan for each of His children and that His Son, Jesus Christ, came in the meridian of time and made it possible for all of us to live again with our Heavenly Father. As we follow the Savior we can know that we are on the right course in life and the He will help us through all of our challenges.

How I live my faith

Active members of the Mormon church have many opportunities to serve others. One of my greatest joys in life has been serving in various Church assignments with large congregations, with Scouts, in the temple, and in missionary work in Germany, Florida, and South Africa. What a joy it is to work with good people who love The Lord and want to help His work move forward. The family is a central pillar of the Mormon church. There has been no greater joy than raising our children and seeing them raise righteous families of their own.
