Hi I'm Emma

I'm a thinker. I love to travel. I'm a Mormon :)

About Me

I am the 3rd of 6 kids and all of us were home schooled at one point by our mother. Because of being home schooled I know how crazy it can be living with your siblings 24-7. So naturally, I learned the art of escape--the great outdoors are perfect. I love being outside exploring nature, running, or just soaking up the world around me. It is being in nature that allows me to think and therefore express myself. I find that the best ways I can express myself are through the arts. I love both visual and performing arts. Anything from sketching to dancing to sculpting to singing. Beyond those things, I love to travel. New places, new faces, new experiences. The world is an amazing place and the people that are in it are even more so. To help me fulfill this love of travel and seeing the world and understanding the people within it I am studying archaeology. I'm still waiting to see where that takes me.

Why I am a Mormon

Some people have told me they think the only reason I am a Mormon is because its what my parents are and I am just following them. Sure, maybe that it how it started out when I was little, but that is not why I am still a Mormon to this day. Although I am not a convert to the church, I still have my own conversion story. I had some rough bumps in my life and it was hard to see where things were going. I felt lost and confused. It was a scary situation for me. Church had always been there in my life, but now was the time that I decided to test it out for myself, see if what the things I had been taught were true. It didn't come to me quickly, or all at once like I would have wanted it to, but slowly, through time, I saw how the faith and action I had put into the things I had been taught all my life began to bring me conclusions. But not just that, I began to feel peace and happiness in my life again. I saw the great blessings that my Heavenly Father was giving me and knew that His gospel was true. I came to know of the principle of testing things out for myself, really looking into them and seeing what happened as I followed certain teachings of the Church. I now know the truth of this gospel, but that doesn't mean that my conversion is over, that I am done looking for the truths of the gospel. No, it is continuous. I will keep on searching for knowledge and truth for the rest of my life. This gospel, His gospel, brings me more safety and security than anything else could and I need that in my life. The world can be a frightening place, but I know where I can go when I need help. I know I can trust in the Lord with all my heart and He will not leave me alone. I have been so greatly blessed by His gospel and couldn't be more thankful to have it in my life.

How I live my faith

As a young adult, I find the best way to live my faith is through loving service to those around me. I always try to do my best to be a good example to those around me as I follow the teachings of my Savior. He taught those around him with love and service, so what better way to show people what I believe than to follow His example. Sometimes I get the opportunity to teach others at church or plan activities. As I do this I like to keep the people I am working with in mind to try and do things in such a way that will be the best way possible for them. Recently I have been called to serve a mission for my church. I have been waiting for this chance for my whole life. I know that serving the Lord as well as serving my Heavenly Father's children is where I am supposed to be. It will be a time of great growth for me as I come to further understand and teach my faith.
