Hi I'm Gunnar Jensen

I'm 18. I Spend My Day Teaching People of Our Savior Jesus Christ. I Represent Him. I'm A Missionary and I'm A Mormon.

About Me

I am an 18 year old currently serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon Church) in Phoenix, Arizona. Before my mission I was very active in sports playing Football and Basketball as well as running Track. I worked at a Grocery Store since I was 16 up until I left for my mission. I also enjoyed spending most of my time with my friends and hanging out. After my mission I hope to be able to attend BYU to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering then earn a Graduate Degree in Aerospace Engineering and work as an Aircraft Design Engineer. As well as find my future wife and start a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I find it important to know that just because you are born into a family that is Mormon that you don't instantly believe or know it is true. I spent a long part of my life searching for truth and wanting to know why I went specifically to the church my parents were raised in. My Freshman year of High School I was enrolled in Seminary (A class provided by the church in which you learn about the four books of scripture the Mormon Religion uses) during this class my teacher challenged all of us to read the Book of Mormon by the start of our Sophomore year. In the Book of Mormon we are promised that if we read with real intent (meaning we want to truly find out if it is true) God will reveal to us the truthfulness of this book through the power of The Holy Ghost. When I finished reading I did as the book directs and desired to know from God if it were true. My answer to this question did not come as soon as I said the prayer but a couple years when I again asked and this time God answered me. I know that everyone who reads and desires to find truth can and will have their prayers answered from God. But it takes time and it takes effort. I honestly can say that I know the Book of Mormon is true and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only true church upon the face of the earth today.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by ultimately keeping the Covenant I made with God when I was baptized and became a member of the Church. A covenant is a promise made between us and God. We promise to Take Upon Ourselves the Name of Jesus Christ and Always Remember Him. Keep His Commandments and Serve The Lord. By following these God in turn promises for His Spirit to always be with us and we can receive a remission of our sins. By following this Covenant I live my faith daily by constantly striving to be an example of Jesus Christ.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Gunnar Jensen
The Atonement of Jesus Christ was necessary for us to be able to live in our Heavenly Father's presence. The Atonement is the time in Christ's life from his suffering in Gethsemane till his Resurrection Three days after the Crucifixion. Because Christ suffered and died for us we don't have to suffer for our sins and transgressions and we can be made perfect through Christ. Because of His resurrection we can to live again.
