Hi I'm Michael

I'm a composer. I'm a swimmer. I love muffins. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to think of my self as a maker. I like making music, making stories, and making people laugh. I am constantly working on projects to make the world a better place. I enjoy both swimming and reading, though not at the same time. I like the color red and Mexican food. I like having adventures (ranging from hiking mountains to trying to solve a Rubik's Cube in under 2 minutes.) I have yet to solve a Rubik's cube in under 2 minutes this year, but there's always hope right?

Why I am a Mormon

I was walking home after a particularly difficult day of of school and found myself doubting religion. The day had culminated in a class debate concerning the religious and scientific theories about the beginning of the world. Feeling shaken in my faith as I waited at a red light, I turned to God in prayer. "How," I thought, "am I supposed to reconcile religion and science?" Then, a little voice in my head that was not my own said, "I love you and that is all that matters. Leave the details to me." I experienced a wonderful spirit of peace and happiness and knew that God loved me. I am Mormon because of moments like that - moments when I feel God's love for me. Being Mormon gives me the strength to live each day with a smile. It makes me want to run outside, spread my arms to the sky, and laugh. I am Mormon because God loves me, and that is all that matters.

How I live my faith

Labas! (That's "Hello" in Lithuanian.) I'm am currently serving a two-year mission in Lithuania teaching people how to improve their lives by living the gospel of Jesus Christ. I often accompany and arrange music for church activities. Nothing moves the soul the way music can. I have a firm belief in God and Jesus Christ. Music is how I share that belief.

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes! We believe in Jesus Christ and following His example and teachings. Some people say that Mormons are not Christian because Mormons are not the "same Christian" as other Christian churches. The full name of the church is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints". It doesn't get much clearer than that. Of course, saying "I'm a Christian" and acting as such are two separate things. A true Christian is someone who serves and lifts others the way Christ did. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" strive to improve each day in living Christ-like lives. We're not perfect, but we have hope, through Christ, in a brighter tomorrow.
