Hi I'm Jake Hunter

I grew up in Northern California. I love to snowboard, play tennis, and explore. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to be out doing things! Throughout high school I raced on our snowboard team and I loved the adrenaline and atmosphere of racing. Tennis is another one of my favorite sports and I could play it all the time. Anything that gets me up and moving, I love to do. I recently just finished up my first year of college and I have been studying physics. I am interested in building things, but I don't have the skills yet! This past year I spent a lot of time in the math and physics tutorial lab cranking out homework. It beats writing english essays though, that's for sure. I've had a lot of fun too: I went night skiing, camping, and joined a tennis class. I even did a social dance class! Got a little outside my comfort zone and went for it! I love to try new things, spend time with my siblings, and enjoy this earth we have been given.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I've felt my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ play a role in my life. I grew up believing in the church, but then I had some amazing spiritual experiences which solidified my faith. I know for a fact that God watches over us and cares about every one of us. He has protected me, in small ways, that mean so much to me. I have read the Book of Mormon and have asked God if it is true and I received an answer. The Holy Ghost (also known as the Holy Spirit) testifies truth to us as we ask God with sincere hearts. This Gospel, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, means everything to me. Without it in my life, I wouldn't know my purpose here on earth and I wouldn't be as happy. I am so thankful for it and I know Jesus Christ died for all of us, that we can be forgiven of our sins. I'm excited to teach others about this Gospel and I love it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by what I do. In my ward (congregation) down at college I had the opportunity to teach the 18 to 22 year old men at church. At first I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to do good, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. They helped me out by answering questions and participating in the lessons I planned. We were able to have some great discussion about topics that apply in our daily lives. I have also had the opportunity to visit some of the women and men in our ward each month where I and a friend would share a spiritual thought and just be there for them. We'd ask about their day and help them in any way we could. I'd even surprise them with treats, that's the best. Most recently though, I have been called to preach the gospel (or the teachings of Jesus Christ) on a mission. My mission is the Canada Montréal Mission where I will speak french. I am embarking on this mission to serve others and help them draw close to their Savior Jesus Christ. I am excited to serve and also nervous, but as I trust in the Lord and follow His commandments I will find true joy and help others to find that as well. I will be on my mission for 2 years of my life, committed to helping others find happiness.
