Hi I'm Amber Edgecomb

I'm a librarian and a cellist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I was sixteen, I decided that I wanted to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ more than anything. As the oldest of nine children, with two in braces and another on the way, I figured I would have to get a job or three right away in order to come up with $8,000 in three years. Working around school, as an assistant manager at Papa Murphy's, a seasonal worker at JoAnns, a clerk at my hometown library, a nanny for seven children, and an assistant secretary at a small piano gallery, I saved several thousand dollars, and, with the help of family members and friends, I am now serving in the California Carlsbad Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I want to be happy. That's the easy answer. :) The hard answer is longer. I used to think that the world was light-dappled and inherently good, and that badness was merely a very strong illusion - that our world was, as e. e. Cummings puts it, 'mud-luscious and puddle-wonderful.' Of course, it is; beauty is easily apparent and God is good. And yet there is also a very real brokenness in our world, you know. There is abuse and addiction and horrifically soul-shattering things do happen. I believe in fighting for the hope which clings to the edges of reality. I believe in God and I believe that His grace is sufficient to overcome the darkness. I believe in the inherent ability of humanity to stand, undaunted, and hold out light with both hands.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by teaching others the beauty of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
