Hi I'm Denise

I live in New York all my life. My parents are from Peru. I love taking pictures, decorate cakes and working out. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love taking Pictures of my surroundings. I love decorating cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, and special events. I love working out and weight training. I am studying Early Childhood Education with a concentration of Art. I am excited to serve a mission by June. I will be serving in San Jose, California Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the gospel. My parents were investigators and my brother was a baby when they were searching for a religion. My parents were Catholic before. They didn't meet any missionary until they came to New York. It took them 2 years for them to finally convert. Later my brother was baptized in my mothers birthday and then I was baptized in my fathers birthday. I went to primary, learned the songs, was taught many principles and I always tried to listen to my leaders and family as best I could. However, the question of "is this really the true church?" crossed my mind. I began to search for myself and immersed myself in the scriptures. One day as I was reading a chapter, I felt the spirit so close to me. I felt as I was being hugged, I felt peace, and I felt joy all at the same time. I began to tear up because of an amazing experience I just had. I knew at that instance that Heavenly Father knew I was searching for an answer. I knew at that moment that he knows me and loved me enough to answer my prayer. I know this Church is true with all my heart. Missionaries knocked on my parents door and because of them my dad was able to be Bishop of a Family Ward and now he is serving as the Patriarch of the New York Stake. Because of the sister missionaries my brother served a mission in Norte Piura, Peru and touched peoples hearts to come unto Christ. Because of them my mother has taught me great principles and lessons that has helped me with my decisions in life. And because of those sister missionaries I will be serving a mission San Jose, California. I know this gospel is the true church of Our Father in Heaven. He is our Savior and Redeemer. I love him and I leave these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I am attending the Queens YSA branch in the Young Single Adult Branch in NY. I am currently a Relief Society Presidency. I will be released in two weeks because I have decided to serve the Lord for 18 months. I am excited and I can't wait for June 25th to Arrive!

What is being a Mormon like?

I love being a Mormon. In my School years for example in High School there was maybe 2-5 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and thats all. The rest of the Students were from other Religions. I notice now that I quietly became an example to many of my friends. I wasn't scared to tell them that I don't curse, I don't drink and so forth. I told them what I believe and if they accepted that then I would gladly be their friends. Many of my school friends I have now aren't members but they know that if they have any questions I would gladly answer. And if I don't know the answer to give me time to ask the missionaries and I will answer their question the following day of week. And you know what!? my friends respected that. I feel blessed to have the friends I have today. They are amazing individuals who want to improve and progress in life. Keep being that example to your friends. There will always be someone looking at what you do. Overall, Stand up for what you believe in. The gospel is more about just believing and having faith. It's about putting that amazing word "faith" into Action. Show more Show less
