Hi I'm Tanner

Hi I live in the U.S. !!! I love people and yes...I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I will be a missionary soon! People are the light in my life, I just can't get enough interaction and meeting others. My other big interests are in Disney and history!! Especially U.S. history, and I am fond of old sailing ships! A great poem from Ella Wilcox helped me lose my OCD! It is about being who you want to be regardless of the circumstances. 'Tis the Set of the Sail -- or -- One Ship Sails East But to every mind there openeth, One ship sails East, A way, and way, and away, And another West, A high soul climbs the highway, By the self-same winds that blow, And the low soul gropes the low, 'Tis the set of the sails And in between on the misty flats, And not the gales, The rest drift to and fro. That tells the way we go.

Why I am a Mormon

It's interesting and inspiring to feel the strength of converts who come into the church. They are so dedicated and firm, I think it's probably because they have always lived life without the Gospel. So now that it's with them they appreciate it more. It's great that the Holy Ghost can be felt anywhere in the world, just like the sun. Yet He can only be present in one place, His power can be felt radiating anywhere it's needed. When we are baptized and confirmed by Priesthood power we believe that we are to 'receive the Holy Ghost'. This means that He can ALWAYS go with us if we are righteous, in clear distinction with simply feeling His influence at various times. Missionary work works because people feel the Spirit, and they can know that the Gospel is true. The Book of Mormon promises that anyone can know what is true. Moroni 10:5 reads 'And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.' So even if your agnostic, try the promise!! The claims of the Church are so phenomenal and sacrifices so profound it should cause the toughest critic to pause. Why hasn't the Church stopped yet? Gosh...it must be true :) If eternity is true, which it is, then you might as well try God's true guarantee that He will tell you the truth.

How I live my faith

I am assigned to visit three families each month with a companion as part of our Home Teaching. Sometimes I think that people feel home teaching to be but a burden, but they are a blessing. You make friends out of those you visit, and feel so good each time as the Spirit warms your heart. I remember going to a family that usually only the father and young girl spoke with us as his wife was sleeping or caring for their young boy. I felt as if our monthly visits were somewhat awkward and hopefully he was okay with us coming. He told us about his schooling and an exam coming that would enable him to pursue his business aspirations. I prayed for him each day. One week in church he told me he had passed it, saying something along the lines of 'I'm not sure how, but I passed it'. I felt good! Another family I go to has two small kids and they have had a baby die before birth. There is a sweet calm and testimony in that family. That good dad of theirs is the scout master, and probably will be for at least a decade. Their children call me and my companion, 'Tanner and his friend'. Though quite humorous, I'm deeply touched by that because I think my companion has been around the family more than me, yet those kids remember me.
