Hi I'm Rick

I'm a grandfather. I'm a cowboy at heart. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of eight children and a grandfather of nine. I am grateful that most of my children and grandchildren live close by. We have a small family business where myself and four of my sons and one of my daughter-in-laws work. Between work and family gatherings we have many opportunities to associate, work together, and just enjoy each other's company. I've come to realize that it is these family relationships that help me to grow and bring me joy.

Why I am a Mormon

Forty-three years ago I was living in a new city and prayed that I might be able to find a church to attend that would be right for me. I began visiting various churches in my community. Then one night two missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints knocked on my door and asked if they could teach us a message about the Savior. I had never heard of or had contact with the LDS church before. Over the next few weeks we met together often where I had the opportunity to learn more about the Church and the gospel of Jesus Christ. They challenged me to read the Book of Mormon and ask Heavenly Father if it was true. After reading the Book of Mormon at some length I received a spiritual witness of its truthfulness. That testimony from my Heavenly Father brought me into the Church. That testimony has grown since that day through many sacred experiences. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and is another testament of Jesus Christ, and that Joseph Smith was called by God to be His prophet, restoring His gospel in the latter days.

How I live my faith

I love my Heavenly Father and know that He loves me too. I seek to demonstrate my love for Him by obeying His commandments and serving His children. Everyone is a child of God. Everyone is an individual who I can come to know, to serve, and to love. Each of us are unique individuals with talents and gifts to uplift and bless the lives of others. I have had the opportunity during the forty years of my membership in the Church to serve in many capacities. Each of these opportunities has stretched me and caused me to grow in my ability to serve and love others. I am grateful that the Savior patiently brings me along.
