Hi I'm Mark

I like to write, work, learn, exercise, and be with the people I care about. I'm a brother, I'm a friend, I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada. I come from a family of 4. I'm very competitive. I like to do things that push me, and cause me to grow and strengthen myself. Martial arts, boxing, and exercise are some of the ways that I am able to achieve this. I enjoy being outside, and I love nature. I love breathing in the fresh air, and witnessing all that God has created on the Earth. I enjoy movies, reading and writing. I like getting myself lost in a story, and I always want to see them through until the end. I'm working towards becoming a carpenter, so I can make homes for those in search of them. I strongly value my friends. They've been a strong support for me to grow, and strengthen my beliefs in the things I value most in the world. The gospel is my life, and has taught me exactly how everything in my life has meaning, and is meant to bring me to greater happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church, but I wasn't quite raised in it. I always went to church as a kid, but my surroundings and my home life, weren't really in harmony with what I believed. I made a lot of choices that ended up causing me a lot of heartache. I always felt like there was something missing in my life, and I grew up having a lot of questions that I didn't know how to answer. The one thing that I felt confident enough to say for sure was that there is a God, and that He knew me, and what I was going through. I knew that if I called out to Him, that He would listen. By turning to Him with my problems and concerns, I gained a testimony that He loves me. He sent His son, Jesus Christ to atone for my sins, so that I wouldn't have them to weigh me down all the time. He called on Joseph Smith, to restore His church on the Earth today, so that I can feel and understand the full capacity of the love that He has for me. The Holy Ghost has testified to me that this is true, and I will never deny that. I don't want others to go through the same trials I had growing up, feeling lost and alone, with no one for them to turn to, believing that they're not good enough for someone to care about. I want to be the kind of friend I've always been grateful to have, but most importantly, I want others to know that they do have a Father in Heaven, and that no matter how hard things are, He is there for them to turn to.

How I live my faith

Everyday, I try to make my life reflect what my beliefs mean to me. I strive to remember my Savior, Jesus Christ, in all that I do, although, I need to improve on that, greatly. I try to put myself in the places where I am needed, where I am able to help those around me. I want to be there for the people that I care for, and those who are in need of caring. I served my mission in the Canada Edmonton Mission, where I was given the opportunity to teach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, to those who were seeking it. I work with the young single adults, and the young men in my area, trying to help them be strong in their faith, by teaching, leading, and offering support.
