Hi I'm Neal

I am serving a mission in Louisiana, and I am a mormon

About Me

I am a renaissance man. Whether it's science, art, politics, sports or music, I love it all! I especially love music. I am a trumpet performance major in college. My father was a professional trumpet player, and I have been playing since my toddler years. I love orchestral/chamber music and have dipped my feet in the waters of jazz a little bit as well. Fun fact: The first time I drove a car, I got in a car accident! It was very humiliating.

Why I am a Mormon

I absolutely love this church. I was born and raised a mormon and have seen the wonderful blessings that have to come to my parents from being a part of our church. I have come to know for myself that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me, and loves all of His children. He loves us so much that He sent us Jesus Christ, His only begotten son, to pay the price for all of us so that we can be forgiven of our sins and return to live in the presence of our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It is my job to do what the Savior would do if he were here, and I love doing His work!

What do Mormons believe about family?

Neal
The family is the center focus of our religion. We believe that the family is central to God's plan; we are children of a Heavenly Father. We lived with Him as a family before we came to this earth. The family is very important because a loving family unit provides protection from the world. The home that holds the family also holds great importance. The home is a place of safety; a place for us to make mistakes, learn, develop relationships with each other, and a place for refuge and comfort when we're having a bad day. And, if you're a shy introvert like me, it's a safe place to talk and speak my mind. I love my family. My very best friends are my parents and siblings. We do everything together, and the best experiences of my life have been with my family. I am so glad to have such a great friendship with my family because I know that as I get older, the closest friendships and the ones that will matter the most to me will be the members of my own family. Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Neal
We don't drink coffee, tea, or alcohol because the Lord revealed His law of health, which is called the Word of Wisdom. I have felt great blessings come from living the word of wisdom by avoiding tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea, illegal drugs and other harmful substances, and eating a healthy, well--balanced diet. God has given us plants and grains for the use of man! Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Neal
The Savior said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life"(John 14:6). We certainly believe that! Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God the Father, and that they are two individual beings. The Church's official name is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints"; Christ is central to everything we do! When we are baptized into the Church, we make promises with God that we will take upon ourselves the name of Christ, always remember Him, and keep His commandments. We love Christ so much that we try to live according to His teachings. We try to become Christlike. Jesus Christ was sent to this earth to atone for our sins so we could be forgiven, and be able to make it back to our Father's presence. He is our brother, and He loves us. We know that He lives today. He was resurrected, as we learn in the Bible, and He appeared to the people in the Americas, as recorded in the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Neal
A restoration of the Gospel was needed because the priesthood of God was taken off of the earth when the Savior's Apostles were killed. Although there were still good people who wanted to follow the Savior, they did not have His power, and so they had to rely on human wisdom. Although the Bible has been there the whole time, many plain and precious truths were lost or removed over the years as people tried to correct it and fix it; ironically, they only got farther and farther away from the truth. Imagine that-- the world without the light of truth! But God has always put the truth back on the earth through a prophet who He calls (like Abraham, Noah, Moses, Enoch, Jesus Christ), and so it was necessary that He did so again, and that's why a Restoration of the Gospel was needed. :) Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Neal
The Book of Mormon was written by the Lord's servants, the prophets. God teaches the Gospel to His prophets, and they write it down and teach it to us, and that's exactly what happened with the Book of Mormon. The book takes place in the Americas. Show more Show less
