Hi I'm Randy

I am a computer software engineer. I grew up in Salmon Idaho. I Love to ride bikes. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up the small community in central Idaho. It was really an idealistic place for a boy to grow up if you like the out of doors. Some of the worlds best hunting, fishing, hiking, motorcycling, snowmobiling, snow skiing, river rafting, horse back riding and just about anything else you can do outdoors is found right outside your back door there. My dad owned an auto parts store there so I grew up working there and was deeply immersed in "Hot Rods" and all things "Cars". I loved the 1970 GTOs. There is something about the deep throaty rumble of a Pontiac 455cid that still gives me chills. I sold both of my GTOs at different times to buy houses... good deal at the time but sure wish I had them now. :-) I was also very involved in high school sports. Basketball and football were my favorites. Being a small school of less than 500 for 9th-12th grade we were all pretty much involved in everything. This exposed me to many things that I have continued to enjoy though out my life. I played the trumpet in the band and sang bass in the choir thus developing a love for music of all kinds. I still sing in different choirs and beautiful music touches my soul more quickly and deeply than anything else. I met and married my eternal sweet heart at college 35 yrs ago. We have 6 wonderful children. 3 boys and 3 girls (planned parenthood. :-) ). We have 7 grandchildren. Above all else my family is the source of true joy and happiness in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know of no other way of life that brings true happiness in this life. There are basic truths that ring true to all of our souls. The "Master Jesus Christ" taught these. He showed us the way. Reading the scriptures, Praying to a LOVING Heavenly Father, Doing good to others. Believing in living Savior who atoned for "my" imperfections is a true blessing. I know he did this because he loves me. He knew I would not be perfect, so He made it possible for me to return and live with him if I would just keep trying. That is all he asks. Accept his atonement and keep trying after we fall down. I think of my children and grandchildren as I have watched them learn to walk. How exciting it is as they venture with their first few steps. They try and fail... we cheer them on as they fail, we rush to help them up to try again. There is never a thought of condemnation for failing, only loving encouragement to get up and try again. That is exactly how I picture our Father in Heave and his Son. So my message to all is to just KEEP TRYING! Knowing that my loving Heaven Father talks to prophets and apostles today to give me guidance in our troubled times is amazing. I know he does! I know that we have an additional set of scriptures in the Book of Mormon that truly are another witness of Jesus Christ. Our Father gave them to us to help us on our journey back to him. This Book testifies of Christ, rejoices in Christ and shows us a clearer path to follow back to him. I testify that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God and given the ancient records to translate that are the Book of Mormon. No one could make this book up. The truths contained are some of those basic eternal truths that ring true to our souls. I add my testimony to that of an ancient prophet of God and many others. If you are looking for ture happiness and Joy Read it, Ponder it and Pray to our Loving Heavenly Father. Ask Him. He will tell you in your heart that it is true.

How I live my faith

I am just a pretty normal guy. I go to work and try to provide for my family. At home I try to make sure my awesome family is happy. I try to help them with the challenges in life they meet. I dig sprinkler lines, fix cars, repair leaky faucets, take out the garbage, mow the lawn and squeeze in a bike ride here and there. I love working with young people. Mostly I think because I have refused to grow up... :-) and they help me feel young. Today's society is hard. Young people struggle with so many things. Life is complicated. There is so much information available on every subject it is overwhelming at times. Influences for good and bad come from many places and counterfeit paths to happiness abound. Having been there and done that on a variety of things helps me to council them on which are true and which are not. I know that one sure way of being happy in this life is to be of service to those around you. This is hard for young people going to school and working to make ends meet. When we do remember to look outside ourselves and help those who stand in need we are blessed with so much more than we give.
