Hi I'm Ari Van Engelenhoven

I lived in Missouri and am now attending BYU-Idaho. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love to read, do puzzles, cook, listen to music, watch movies, be outside, and many other activities. I am a college student. I am the second oldest in my Family. I love my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Well I grew up in the church, and so have learned from childhood about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. But I haven't really known them until recently. My father was diagnosed with cancer last year, and that was a hard time for me, because I was graduating High School and getting ready to leave for College that fall. Before than I had been stagnate in my growth. Yes I did learn some, but I didn't really do anything with what I learned. I knew that Families could be together forever, but nobody that was close to me had died or was in danger of dying. When I found out that my dad could die, I was for the first time afraid. I wanted to plead with Heavenly Father to let him live, because I wasn't ready for him to leave me. I didn't doubt that we had been sealed as a family, and that we would be together forever. My Father received a blessing that reassured my family and I. I was relieved, but it had opened my eyes to the blessings and mercy of Heavenly Father. Then a couple of months later, I found out that someone close to me had made some choices that broke my heart. I could feel my soul weep for this person. I realized the importance of the Atonement and what it can do for the person and myself. For a while I have had the desire to read Preach My Gospel and Jesus the Christ. I had searched everywhere for a copy of Jesus the Christ. I didn't find it until recently. I think that it is because I wasn't ready just yet to understand what was written, but I did need for the desire to want to read it to grow, so that when I did find it. I would be ready to learn and appreciate what I was learning. Heavenly Father had blessed me, guided me, and loves me. I know this to be true.

How I live my faith

I have done community service and ward service. My calling at this moment is Activation Specialist in a singles ward, which means people who haven't made it to church for awhile I go and check on them and help them and visit with them and to see if i can be of assistance.
