Hi I'm Camille

I grew up in Utah. I was a college track athlete.I'm serving a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been blessed with the opportunity to compete on a college track team this past year and I love it. It was definitely one of the hardest things I've ever had to do but it was well worth it. I also love reading. and will read just about anything you sit down in front of me. I love being outdoors and being active.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and have always been a member but like all people I had to have a conversion point too. When I was 13 my mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor, the doctors said that it was a fairly simple surgery to get the tumor out. The surgery turned out to be a little more complicated than they thought and what was supposed to only be one surgery turned into eight surgery's. I am the oldest child and being so I took on a lot of the family responsibility and it was really hard for me.I remember waking up every morning wondering if my mom was still alive or if she had died during the night. I didn't understand why God would let my family go through this. After a few months of this I guess I just reached my breaking point and I decided that I didn't believe that the church was true anymore or that God loved me. I spent about a month not believing in the church and then one day for some reason I picked up my scriptures that I hadn't been reading and read D&C 58:3-4 " Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter, and the glory which shall follow after much tribulation." Reading that scripture was a turning point for me and I realized that God didn't leave me, He was just trying to give me glory. When I read that scripture I was filled with this warm comforting feeling that had been missing for the month that I had decided I didn't believe in the church. This experience helped me build a testimony of the church and of my Savior. I know that Jesus died for me and that because He died for me he knows exactly what I am going through and He wants to help. Jesus is my best friend.

How I live my faith

One way that I live my faith is by serving others through callings in the church. My freshman year of college I was called to be on the institute council. Being on institute council was really time consuming and at first I thought I wouldn't be able to accomplish everything that needed to be accomplished because of the time commitment. Institute Council required about 15 hours a week and I was also taking 18 credits at school and being on the track team required 20 hours a week. I felt so swamped but I decided that if I put God first He would help me accomplish everything that needed to be accomplished. With that mindset whenever there was an overlap in schedules between my activities I would always choose to do whatever the Institute Council needed and in the end everything worked out. Living my faith is putting God first in whatever I choose to do.
