Hi I'm Alex

Idaho, born and raised. Trying to achieve my dreams of saving the world. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Movie enthusiast. College student. Sister missionary. Avid tennis player. Volunteer. Social recluse. Superhero wannabe. Dog lover. Pun extraordinaire. Disco skater. Amateur ping pong champion. Podcast listener. Just living day to day, trying to do the right thing. And I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

This gospel has meant so so so so so much to me. Why am I a Mormon? It was the religion I was raised in. I don't come from an especially religious home, but we went to the LDS church on Sundays growing up, so that's where it started. The real thing I ask myself is why am I still Mormon? Why am I willing to sacrifice so much for this religion? Why have I continued to commit myself to this faith? That can be answered in 3 words. It. Is. True. As I have learned more and more about this faith and studied it, I am constantly reassured of its validity. We probably sound like a bunch of nuts when we talk about feeling the spirit testify to us, but it isn't something you can understand until it has happened to you. When I open the scriptures, when I attend church services, when I talk about the church with my friends, I am overwhelmed by a feeling of peace and happiness that reassures me of the truth. This church is incredible. God is real and he is good. Our brother Christ has paved the way for us to return to heaven, and when times seems to hard to handle and you feel alone and afraid, you can turn to him. I love this gospel with every ounce of my being. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I believe we should live our faith in all that we do. I am definitely far from perfect, but I try to serve those around me. There is truly a special joy that comes from service to others. Service is the best way we can express our faith because it shows God we care about his other children. Currently, I am living my faith by preparing to serve a mission for the church. I am dedicating 18 months of the prime of my life to the Lord by going to a foreign country to spread the good word that I have been learning about since I was a toddler- the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Alex
The scriptures are truly incredible. As I have matured and come to truly understand the stories and the lessons behind the scriptures, my life has been incredibly blessed. Over and over again it has been shown to me that the scriptures is God's way of talking to me. It may seem funny that some events written 1000s of years ago can still relate to us today, but it is amazing how it does. These simple books have so much gold within them. Inside these pages, I have found where I come from and even my future potential. The more and more I study, the more I find. Simply stated, the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and the other scriptures we study are full of pure gold that I can truly apply to my life. Often I have been in a state of questioning, be it how am I going to pass this English test tomorrow to whether or not this church is true. No matter the question, the scriptures have always led me to an answer. They truly are the words of God. Show more Show less
