Hi I'm Kat

I'm a devoted wife and mother who loves the outdoors, music, art and anything creative. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah, busy camping in the summers and ice skating in the winters. In college, I studied Literature and Ballroom Dance, and had the incredible chance to travel all over the world. I met my sweetheart in a history class. Soon after we married, he went active duty with the USAF. After living several years as a military family, we are now settled in the gorgeous Pacific Northwest. I'm busy at my dream job, working Mommy magic at home. I love spending time with my boys, watching them learn and experience things. We love being active in nature; traveling, biking, camping, and hiking. I love music, art, cooking and good books.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon. Just like my parents and grandparents. My ancestors crossed the plains as pioneers in the earliest days of the church. In high school, I decided I needed to find out for myself if this was true or not. For the first time, I read the Book of Mormon cover to cover and prayed my questions frequently. One night after while meditating under the stars, I felt the most peaceful, beautiful feeling in my heart and I just knew. This is the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I love the hope and comfort it brings me. It is easy to get weighted down and saddened sometimes with what is happening in the world. It gives me comfort to know that Christ knows our hearts, knows our needs, and has triumphed over death and despair. Following Him brings hope and joy to my everyday life.

How I live my faith

I try everyday is to be a good example for my children. Teaching them to love and serve one another, and follow Jesus Christ is my most important responsibility. I rely heavily on prayer to help me love and teach my boys. I'm so grateful that a loving Heavenly Father hears and answers my prayers and inspires me to be the best mom I can. On Sundays, I teach a children's Primary class. It is wonderful to be able to teach the gospel of Christ in such beautiful, simple terms to this future generation. I love feeling the spirit in my class and seeing the amazing faith of these children. Little children are beloved of the Savior and teaching them is the most important thing I can do with my life right now, both in my home and at my church.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Kat
I am grateful for the knowledge of a living prophet in modern times. We are told in the Bible, Hebrews 13:8 that Christ is the same yesterday, today and always. Just like the people in ancient, biblical times, our Heavenly Father has ordained a living prophet today, Thomas S. Monson. Our loving Father did not leave us to navigate these troubling times alone, without modern revelation and direction. Everyday I find comfort that there is a leader I can trust in, who will not lie, or deceive, or seek his own gain; but who will gently inspire people to do and be better. Matthew 7:20 says "Wherefore, by their fruits ye shall know them.." The prophet and other sustained leaders of the LDS church teach the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Love, charity, forgiveness, humility, and obedience to God's commandments. Our Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to be happy, so He has sent prophets, ancient and modern, to help us make our way in this world. Just like Noah knew to build an ark, and Moses knew to lead the Israelites out of captivity, and David knew how to defeat Goliath; Thomas S. Monson knows how to lead Christ's followers through the confusion of our modern times. We are not alone. God loves us and has given us trusted servants to help us through our doubts, fears, hurts, and trials. Show more Show less
