Hi I'm Daysi

I'm a fan of french fries. I'm a journalist. I love the Boston Celtics. I serve in the Mesa, AZ Visitor's Center and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a sophomore in college and have never been more overwhelmed in my life! I'm constantly writing, reading, doing homework, and fitting some fun things in between. I love to watch, play, and obsess over basketball. I enjoy cooking, even though not everything I make is edible! It's always fun for me to try new recipes and share the delicious ones with friends. I'm an avid reader and hope to one day be a New York Times Bestselling Author. I'm passionate about journalism and love knowing that my writing has the potential to touch others in unimaginable ways. It's a bit silly, but I never grow tired of seeing my name in print. My absolute, favorite movie of all time is Lilo and Stitch; I've probably watched it over 100 times! I love the way that rain smells and jump in puddles every chance I get. I have the amazing opportunity to serve in the Mesa, Arizona Visitor's Center! I love being a missionary!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that my happiness comes from my relationship with my Father in Heaven. I was born into a family of members of this church and for a long time I attended because I knew that it was expected of me. It wasn't until I felt completely lost that I asked whether or not these things I had grown up with were true. After diligent scripture study and prayer, I received the answer I was looking for. I know with all of my heart that Christ is my redeemer and that he atoned for my sins. I have felt so much pain, feelings of inadequacy, and heartache in my short life, but I know for a fact that I have been able to overcome these trials because of my faith in Christ. He has held me up when I couldn't stand and I have felt His love at my loneliest points. I continue to follow His gospel because I cannot deny the miracles He has worked in my life. This knowledge brings joy and peace into my life. I believe that the Book of Mormon, along with the Bible and other holy scriptures, is the word of God. I have read it, prayed about it, and have received personal confirmation that it was written guide me in these latter days. This knowledge is the most precious gift that I have been blessed with and I strive to live it every day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by showing others the same love and patience that God has for me. One of the fundamental teachings of this church is that we are each spirit sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father. I try to always keep this in mind when I interact with others. I serve those around me both physically and spiritually. I have participated in service activities such as beautifying parks and feeding the homeless, but sharing an uplifting message or befriending a lonely person have the same potential to change lives. My faith is strengthened as I devote my time and efforts to be more like my savior, Jesus Christ. Through his life and ministry on this earth, he served those around him and taught through his example. I'm far from perfect and am weak in myself, but through him I can do all things. My faith comes from the knowledge that his atonement is real and strive to share this truth with those around me.
