Hi I'm Tia

I am currently serving a mission in the Rostov Russia area. I did a year of college. I love adventures and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am serving a mission in Rostov Russia till March 2016 and I absolutely love the Russian people! Before my mission I attended college for a year and had the best time. I hope when I get back I can work on learning other languages in addition to learning more Russian. I am the oldest child of four and love all my siblings to pieces. A sister, a brother, then a sister come after me. To me, there is no better way to spend an evening then curling up with a fluffy blanket, a bag of sour gummy worms, and a terribly good book. I am up to anything adventurous like hiking, rollerblading, or playing games. I like to spend my spare time with good friends. I wish I was a better runner but can never quite motivate myself to get up early to avoid the AZ heat during the day. I love to sew and will often watch Pride and Prejudice (or any movies that are similar) in the process of a big project that I am working on. There's a lot of beauty in this world and I hope one day I can have the opportunity to travel it. Traveling has been a dream of mine for many years. Someday I hope that I can fulfill that dream.

Why I am a Mormon

I have stayed in this church through many trials. My mother passed away when I was 15 after a 6 year battle with cancer. This gospel has given me happiness and a sense of purpose. There is nothing that has given me greater happiness. I know that I can live with my mother again. I used the agency that I have been blessed with to follow Christ. He has provided a way for everyone to make it back home. There is a Heavenly Father who loves me and every single one of his children.

How I live my faith

I try to do the best that I can in all that I do. I try to be an example to my family who aren't active. They have their agency to choose but I always try to invite them. I want everyone to have the happiness that can come through following Christ.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Tia
No, it is a personal choice. Missionaries are usually around the age of 18-22 and can be a boy or girl. Senior couple often go out as well. Missionaries go out if they have a desire to share the happiness that can be found through the knowledge of the gospel. While also teaching people about the gospel, missionaries serve and help people in need that are in their area. Missionaries do no get paid and in fact pay for their time out. They do not get to pick where they serve but I have never heard of a missionary coming home from their mission and not have had the best two (or 18 months) of their lives. Show more Show less
