Hi I'm Jessica Sagisi

I am a Filipina who grew up in Hawaii and now I'm a happy wife living in Los Angeles. I love to smile. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born and raised in Hawaii but I'm of Filipino ancestry. I grew up with a mix of different cultures. My favorite part of experiencing a variety of cultures is, of course, the food! I grew to love trying new things. My family includes my daddy, mommy, me, and my little bro. I come from a part-member family. Family means everything to me. All I strive to do is to make them proud. I left the islands to pursue a college education at Brigham Young University as a first generation college student. I served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taiwan Taipei and it was one of the most perfect 18 months of my life. I believe that a smile is the best cosmetic. I proudly wear mine and I think everyone should too! I know that a smile can change everything. I'm now married to my best friend and husband and he puts a smile on my face everyday.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother was in-active at the time that I found out about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After attending church a few times with my aunt, her sister who was very active, I made the decision to be baptized. I vividly remember taking the missionary discussions at the age of 9. The missionaries taught me the simple, true doctrine of Jesus Christ's gospel. They asked me to pray about the Book of Mormon and its truthfulness. I did. My answer came as I knelt and prayed with the Book of Mormon in my hand and tears streaming down my face. I knew that God had answered my prayer and I just felt in my heart that the Book of Mormon and everything the missionaries had taught me was true. If the Lord answers a little girl's humble prayer, I know that He will answer all of our prayers if we pray in faith. Today, my mother, little brother, and I are faithful members of the Church. My father is still not a member. However, through our faith and efforts I pray that one day his heart will be softened. I chose to serve a full-time mission for the Lord because I know it was what He wanted me to do. Serving a mission was one of the greatest decisions I've made and is in every way a blessing for me and my family. The other greatest decision was marrying my love in the Laie Hawaii Temple. I know that this is the gospel of happiness. I know the Lord answers prayers. I know that He knows us better than we know ourselves and that He has a plan for each of us. We just need to have enough faith in Him to follow it. Through Him, I am learning more about my purpose on Earth each day. I know that through Jesus Christ and His Atonement, we can return to live with Him and our Heavenly Father again. Together again with our families.

How I live my faith

I was baptized when I was 9 years-old. As I grew in the church, so did my faith in Jesus Christ. I had chosen to serve a full-time church mission because of this faith and love that I have for Him. Now that I'm back, I continue to serve in my ward. My husband and I attend a Spanish speaking ward and though I'm still learning the language, I know that the language of love and the Spirit speak louder than words. It does not matter where you serve but how you serve. I love visiting people with the missionaries and sharing the gospel in any way that I can.
