Hi I'm Mataya

I'm majoring in biological engineering. I love interior design, running, and good food. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am a college student and I just finished my first year! I am going into biological engineering and am excited to learn more about it. My hobbies include decorating and redecorating rooms in my house and designing/dreaming/planning my future home (I just can't get enough of interior designing), going on runs while I listen to awesome music, being outside, cooking, singing, and laughing. Laughing is my main hobby, the others are just minor ones compared. I am going on an LDS mission to Calgary Canada in the fall! I am extremely excited and nervous and even more excited to share what I know with others. And I still can't believe I get to go to Canada. Best place ever, I'm sure.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this church and have been taught it all my life. I have, though, come to know for myself that the teachings and principles that are taught are true and wonderful. By praying to Heavenly Father I am able to have and develop a relationship with Him. I am able to tell him what is going on in my life and how I am feeling and I know that He cares about me and is involved in the details of my life. I have a testimony of the Book of Mormon and its truthfulness. I get a lot of answers to problems or questions that I have by reading the Book of Mormon and praying to God. I have a testimony of Joseph Smith who translated the Book of Mormon and reestablished Christ's church on the earth again. I know that he was a prophet of God and that God was directing him through the whole process. I know that Thomas S. Monson is our living prophet today and that he is being directed by God, just like Joseph Smith was. I have a very strong testimony of Jesus Christ and His atonement for me, personally, and for everyone of us. I know that He loves us to an extent that we can't even imagine and He was willing to pay the price of our sins so that we can repent and return to live with God after this life. He made it possible for us to enjoy eternal life! I can't even comprehend how amazing this is, but I am forever grateful to Him. Remembering what He has done for me makes me want to be a better person and repent for the wrong things that I do. I love Heavenly Father and I love Jesus Christ so much, and I know that they love me too. I know this church is Christ's church and it has the full, restored gospel. I love this gospel with my whole heart and want to share it with everyone!

How I live my faith

In my church ward, I have the responsibility to be a 'ward missionary' which is where I visit and help others that are less active and that aren't members of our church. My responsibility is to help them feel included and loved in activities or church meetings that they come to and also to encourage everyone to attend church and have the gospel in their everyday lives. I love attending my church meetings and feeling the spirit that is there, which helps me improve my relationship with God and helps me feel His love for me and others.
