Hi I'm Maletina N. Timoteo

I am a Daughter. I am a Missionary. And I am a Mormon!

About Me

Talofa!! I am pleased you have taken the time to get to know Latter-day Saints all around the world and near you. My name is Maletina Timoteo. I was born and raised in the tropicals of American Samoa. I am a college student currently serving a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Utah, Salt Lake City Temple Square and Georgia, Macon Missions. So if you are visiting Temple Square or in Georgia, please I'd love to meet you and share my testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ with you in person!

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long line of "Mormons", Catholics, and Jehovah's Witnesses. On my mother's side, I am another generation of dedicated Latter-day Saints. On my father's side, I am the first generation Latter-day Saint from a pioneer, meaning that I am the daughter of a convert. Though I was born into the "Mormon" belief through my mother's faith, it was ultimately my choice to become baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was baptized at the age of 9. Some of you may think that a child this young could not have understood the "doctrine" or "gospel" of a church to become baptized. You are right! I did not understand everything about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, nor did I even understand what the terms "gospel" nor "doctrine" meant at that time. But I understood love. I knew that I was loved. At that young of an age, I understood that long ago, someone gave His life for me. He gave His life for me because He loved me enough to want to take away my pains and not suffer for them. I didn't know Jesus Christ personally, but His great sacrifice was enough for me to want to follow Him. After all, I owe Him my life. My mother helped me come to know Christ personally. She guided me by example of how I can come to truly know Jesus Christ on my own. I am still a member today with a greater understanding of the "doctrines" and "gospel" of Christ because I have sought to know the truth. And because I searched, pondered, and prayed to know, I have become a witness of His love and my Father's hand in my life. If you were looking to find the truth you sought through me, I am so sorry to say that I can only guide you, as my mom did, to the tools you yourself can find your answers. I invite you to search the scriptures: The Book of Mormon & The Holy Bible, ponder about them, and pray to God to confirm the truth to you. I promise you that as you bring yourself to do these things, that you will come to know the same truth as I do.

How I live my faith

I am a devout Latter-day Saint. I am serving as a missionary in the Utah, Salt Lake City Temple Square and Georgia, Macon Missions. Service is one of the best ways to live my faith. Charity is the pure love of Christ. And as His followers, we strive to act upon that charity in serving Him and you. Currently as a missionary, I live my faith through preaching His gospel. We are set apart and called throughout the world to bring this special message to our brothers and sisters everywhere. Jesus Christ, taught and ministered. And as His disciples, we strive to do the same. We have missionaries all over the world doing this very thing. You may have even seen or talked with one of us before. We leave behind our families for 18-24 months, sacrificing our precious time with them so that we can go out and invite people to come unto Christ. But this little sacrifice is only but a fraction of the sacrifice the Lord Jesus Christ sacrificed for all of mankind. For there was no greater love and service than a sacrifice of laying down His life for the salvation and eternal happiness of us all. This service is not something that stops after the time we have been called, we strive to continue sharing the message of salvation and eternal happiness to all so they may come to feel the great love of God and our Elder Brother Jesus Christ for them.
