Hi I'm Katie

I have grown up in Dallas and Utah! I am excited to serve a mission! I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!

About Me

I really love acting, writing and part of my school's color guard. I lived in Texas for eight years, but moved to Utah in fourth grade. My favorite animals are dragons or tigers. Drawing is also one of my hobbies. I take theatre, creative writing and Chinese at my school and I love it!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was already part of a church but was raised in a very different kind of area. I have grown to love the church by going to seminary and Oakcrest, a girls' camp. While I have been at both those places, my eyes have been opened to many new things. The spirit and love was very strong during the testimony meetings. During seminary, I have learned many new things and greatly enjoy attending the classes. I love the church because through it, I know that families are forever. When a family is sealed in the temple, they are sealed for all eternity. It is a wonderful knowledge to have and has brought much joy in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a friend to the younger girls. I also love going to the weekly activities! When I am around my friends, I do not swear and try not to drink caffeine. By attending seminary (the class you take during school, but it's not run by the school) I have grown to love the gospel more than ever! My mom is in charge of helping with the youth activities for the Young Women (girls 12-18) which I frequently help with.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Not every member is required to serve a mission. Until a couple of years ago, girls had to be 21 to serve missions, so I wasn't planning one serving. The moment they changed the age to 19, I knew I wanted to serve. My brother-in-law did not serve a mission. My older brother is, however. Families receive blessings from this service, and it is a wonderful experience that can help in many aspects of one's life, but no one is required to serve a mission. Show more Show less
