Hi I'm Kathern

I lived in Texas for 8 years and Utah for about 11 years. I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!

About Me

I come from a big family and I'm one of the more creative and sentimental members of that family. I graduated from high school and went to college for a semester before submitting my mission papers, and have been called to serve for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I took Chinese for several years, which will help me on my mission, and I plan on studying film in college. I really enjoy reading, writing, and watching TV shows or movies. As for my testimony, I struggled a bit during middle and high school for various reasons, but have become a stronger person because of it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was already part of a church, and without it, I don't know where I'd be. It's blessed me with the knowledge that I'm a daughter of God and that through faith, we can return to live with Him. The atonement has blessed my life in many ways I didn't think were possible. There were problems I never thought I'd be able to overcome and experiences that have changed my life for the better. We're blessed with the knowledge that things happen for a reason, whether it be an injury or simply struggling in school. The gospel helps me understand my place in the world and what I'm here to do. God truly does bless His children and helps lift them in their time of need. I hope I'm able to bless the lives of others while I'm here on this earth and hope to bring the truth of the gospel to those seeking to know who they truly are.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping my body free of harmful substances and standing for what I believe when the topic of religion comes up. I don't currently have a calling, but I will soon be serving as a missionary. While preparing to become a missionary, I've been attending church meetings and studying my scriptures nightly. Numerous opportunities have come up for me to share the gospel while at work because we're a somewhat close group, and I come from a slightly different background. It opens some doors and helps me feel more comfortable with sharing the gospel.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Kathern
Not every member is required to serve a mission. Until a couple of years ago, girls had to be 21 to serve missions, so I wasn't planning one serving. The moment they changed the age to 19, I knew I wanted to serve. My brother-in-law did not serve a mission. My older brother is, however. Families receive blessings from this service, and it is a wonderful experience that can help in many aspects of one's life, but no one is required to serve a mission. Show more Show less
