Hi I'm Jon

I grew up in Stuart Virginia, I spent 10 years in the Army. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to hunt and fish. I reload my own bullets and love shooting rifles long distances. I am a father to four children.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Baptist church. I really never felt welcome in that church. I felt out of place, like I did not fit in. When I started dating my wife I was sixteen and she was fourteen. She and her sister and mother where all mormon members. I started attending with them and it felt right. I had many great examples from the church in Martinsville Virginia branch. But I did not join then. I joined the Army. My wife and I where married one month before I left for basic training. I did not attend any church for over 10 years. I got out of the military and moved back to Va. And my home teacher showed up. But I still not come back. My wife and I where invited over to my sister in-law's for supper one evening. She was cooking for the missionaries. After we ate they began a lesson with my brother-in-law. And they where asking him questions. I was answering them all. And it started from there. I took the discussions from these two wonderful elders who God sent specifically for me. I am sure of it. I was baptized and confirmed a member. I think it was 2003. I have a testimony of this church that is the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus died on the cross for all our sins. I testify that Joseph Smith restored the gospel for these latter days. I am so thankful to my heavenly father for giving me the wisdom to listen to those two wonderful elders. Families can be together for ever. My wife and I have been married for 23 years now. And we where married in the Raleigh temple in in 2007 I think it was, and sealed to our children for all eternity. How great is that? So truly thankful for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

One of the things I do is coordinate home teaching. We as elders go to the members homes visit with them, show that we love and care for them. Share a very short lesson. And make sure they have food and help with whatever needs they have.
