Hi I'm Thom Hallmark

I live in Oregon, I'm a runner, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a high school student and an Eagle Scout. I love to run! Recently I started preparing earnestly to serve a mission, and I am super excited to be able to share the gospel. I love music, especially the music that rejoyces in the Savior, and I like to share my testimony of the gospel through singing hymns! I don't claim to be perfect, in fact I am far from it, but I know that through the atonement of Jesus Christ my short-comings can become strengths, my sins can be wiped clean, and I can return to live with my Father in Heaven again. I love the Savior for this amazing gift that is his atonement! I don't know where I would be without it.

Why I am a Mormon

Originally I was a member of the church because my parents raised me in the church and took me every Sunday. Now, however, I have learned for myself that the gospel is true by recieving a testimony in the Book of Mormon and the Plan of Salvation. I know that these things are true and they have played a really important role in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live like the Savior. I'm trying to be like him every single day. I do this by serving others in my community, and trying to share the gospel with my friends by my example of living the commandments.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Thom Hallmark
The atonement is a gift given to everyone on the earth by God the Father and Jesus Christ. Because God knew nobody would be perfect and that we would all one day die, he created a plan for all of us to be forgiven of our sins and live with him forever. The atonement was central to this plan. The atonement allows for all of us to become perfected and to have eternal life. This is possible because Jesus Christ suffered for the sins of all people. Because he suffered for your sins and for mine we don't have to suffer; if we choose to repent and follow him. Through his suffering he learned about each and every one of us. He knows all the pain we have ever felt, and because of that he can help us overcome that pain, or sorrow, or sin. While on the cross Jesus even suffered what it felt like to be removed from the presence of the Holy Spirit, a consiquence we all feel when we sin. Jesus chose to die for us so that he could rise from the dead and free us all from death so that we can live forever with him in Heaven. It was also important for him to experience death because we all experience death as well. Ultimately, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is a sign of his love for us. Show more Show less
