Hi I'm Leki Mahe

I am a Tongan that has grown up in Midvale Utah. I love singing, acting, and performing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a person of many interests. I love choir, theatre, instrumental music, sports, and even school...yes... school. But my true passion lies within singing. I have been singing since I was 2 and have not stopped. I sometimes get in trouble in class because I sing all the time. The teachers sometimes tell me to be quiet. I believe that music is one of the most influential things in the world. It can change the way we think act and the way we even say things. Music can be a force for good, but Satan knows that it effects people in such a drastic way that he uses it to hurt rather than up lift. When I entered into high school, I wanted to leave my footprint on the school. Not literally, but I wanted to show that I can impact in a positive way. I am a student who has had the opportunity to participate in almost every type of performing arts event that the school has to offer. I even started my own A Cappella group at the school with kids from all across the board. From sports to music there are people involved in so many things. This is what helped me most throughout high school. I loved all the things I have done, but this is special for me because I was able to take charge and lead the group from nothing to 2nd place winners in a state competition for A Cappella. I have seen the way that music has blessed my life and those whom I have worked with.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. Sometimes this is just as hard if not harder to do than not being a member. At first being born into the church seems like there is loss of freedom of choice. When we are born into the church through family, sometimes people assume that they are "free" from struggles. I believe that the struggles are just as real as non-members. Being born into the church I have had to learn the hard way of disobeying commandments and the punishment feels harsher. But when I reflect on my life I have been blessed because I was born into the church for that reason. It teaches me through trial on knowing what is right and wrong. I go to church now for myself because I know that the church is true, through my own trials I have been made stronger.

How I live my faith

I have always been active in church, but many times it has been from encouragement from my parents. They don't leave me an option to not go to church. I have to go. I have always just had that mindset of "I always have to go to church because I will get in trouble if I don't". But as I have gotten older I have grown to appreciate church and the things that I am learning there. I participate in the scouting program as well as the Young Men's program. I am currently the 1st assistant to the Bishop and home teach with the bishop, because I am his son... ya that's rough sometimes, but I love it still.
