Hi I'm Katie Gilbert

I'm a mom of four. I love to read, travel, and serve. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I sometimes think I was born in the wrong century...I've always been interested in history, As a girl, I loved old movies, historical fiction, vintage clothes. As a graduate student, I studied American film and how those films addressed the issues of their day. Getting to watch old movies and read about the it related cultural and political trends was a dream come true for me. Nowadays, my days are filled with the here and now--the comings and goings of my four kids. I try to make them aware of the world around them, we've been fortunate enough to travel with our kids, and I love to help them learn of other people's lives and experiences.

Why I am a Mormon

In my faith, I find peace and confidence. I feel the sustaining love of my Heavenly Father and the enabling power of my Savior's Atonement. I'm so grateful for the chance I had to complete a semester abroad in the Holy Land, where I traced the footsteps of ancient prophets and walked where Jesus walked. Walking along the ancient road to Jericho and thinking about the Good Samaritan or sitting among the rocky hill of Bethel, I came to know that the stories of the Bible were true. But I'm even more grateful for the Book of Mormon, whose prophets have provided countless examples to me of Christian disciples. I love the Book of Mormon and can't imagine knowing Jesus as I do without that book. I'm blessed to know of eternal families, and count my temple marriage as one of my greatest blessings. The choices we make in life matter--I'm grateful for my family who helps me be the best I can be!

How I live my faith

I love being a Mormon. I am grateful to know of Jesus Christ's love for me, and I try to share that with the people I interact with every day. I love volunteering at my kid's schools and in my community. My teenagers and I spend a portion of every month serving in our community. I love serving in a homeless shelter or tutoring session with other amazing people in our community. I love seeing the good in others. This is especially apparent when I see people of different faiths and backgrounds come together to tackle a c'mon problem. The Lord loves all people and will accomplish His purposes through any willing hands.
